Once Alex had been settled in and resting, and once Charles was sure he'd be alright, he let Alex's friends in on short visits. He had contacted Erik as soon as he could feel Alex's mind again and insist the man come over and to make sure their mutual friend was alright - or as alright as he was going to be. He let the two have some time, keeping to himself and not hovering when Alex had visitors. Though, once Erik had said his piece, Charles warily sent the man a text over the PORTAL, asking for him to come to the library. He would have said it in his mind, but he knew Erik was giving him enough leeway and trust by walking around the mansion without the helmet on. Charles didn't want to cause that small step to go backwards.

Charles sat on his typical side of the chessboard, staring at the pieces. He and Raven had already talked and begun healing the wounds that had happened that day in Cuba. Perhaps it was time he and Erik talked about it as well. Raven was insistent that Erik still thought of him as a friend, and Charles had no reason to doubt her judgement. He knew Erik did not trust him, however, and that was what set the entire friendship downhill, in his point of view. He did not hold it against Erik for making the choice he did on the beach. Charles couldn't, not when he knew Erik's past. There was no hard feelings even for crippling him. It was all about trust, and Charles was left wondering for weeks what he had done in those few short minutes that Erik had lost trust in him.

Yes, there were many things to talk about, and Charles wasn't sure where to begin. Chess and some alcohol always seemed to be a good place to start, even if their last attempt had ended poorly. Hopefully with the impending threat of Shaw gone, the two could have a proper game of chess and it not boil down into an argument. Charles sincerely doubted it, but he was always one to hope.
