Pay no attention to the masked man browsing the shelves, bringing with him the feeling of cosmic wrongness to those capable of sensing such things. He stops in the religious aisles, casting a disdainful eye over the Bible shelf before turning his head - revealing no straps holding the mask in place - to peruse a rack of witchcraft books. He picks up a leather-bound Satanic Bible and chuckles.

Yuuta does notice him though, and wonders how he got in without the bell ringing at the front door. He figured that a detail like this would be useful to have, especially since he would be the only one working in here. He didn't want to seem like an unsuitable host.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" he asked, approaching him carefully. Though he had his powers as blocked as he could get them, that sense of wrong was too much for him not to sense.

"Hm?" he looks up as if only distantly registering that the man exists. "Oh, no, that's fine."

Lucifer glances at the door - the windows and people going past, then promptly decides he doesn't care if this store counts as a "public" place or what those little apes think they can do to him. The mask vanishes from his face, and, satisfied, he returns to the laughable little book in his hand. "I was just amusing myself. Your selection is good, though I would suggest a different translation."

"Which translation would you recommend?" Yuuta asked, still feeling cautious. "I do not know much about Christian texts to know which translations or versions would be preferable."

"The New International Version is so bland," Lucifer commented mildly, somehow lacing the words with disdainful condescension. "It has none of the poetry, but the King James- so literal. The Translation of the Septaguint is interesting, you might want to stock that."

When he shelved the Bible, he left behind charred fingerprints.

Yuuta stared at the burned fingerprints, soon frowning. He was not sure what kind of person or creature could do something like that, but he was sure he wasn't an average human like he was trying to be.

"I shall have to do that then, when I close shop. Are there any other books you would recommend for this section?"

"Mm, no," he shrugged. "These books never get it right. Human minds are less than ideal for conveying truth. Though they do make excellent propaganda."

Lucifer was inwardly paying attention to the curious young man, though his dismissive demeanor didn't show it. With so many worlds and realities intersecting, the angel was interested in testing the waters, so to speak, of what others had to offer. There were matters of power, matters of scale: who around here could hope to make a dent in him? This little human might prove an interesting exercise.

"No, we never do seem to get such things right," Yuuta agreed. "I doubt that even our recorded national history is completely factual. It was started a few hundred years ago and a lot of the information was oral tradition."

Yuuta could feel something starting to build up, a small feeling inside his chest. He knew what it was: he got it anytime he was near someone powerful, but how powerful was this person or being that they could make it appear when he was doing his best to keep his powers blocked? Yes, he undid it when the Vengeance Children were around but now... it was fully locked again.

Not knowing only made him nervous.

"You've only been recording for a few centuries?" Even that look of bland almost-interest managed to look condescending. How quaint, the humans thought they were people. "Where or when are you from?"

"Only our national history in written form," Yuuta said, his shoulders stiffing. "We have written other things long before that, such as sacred texts and folk stories. Other cultures had been writing for centuries and millenniums before. The Sumerians were the first to start a writing system with pictographs to help keep sales logs in order. Long before that, there were pictures on rocks and cave walls."

"I know the history," Lucifer replied placidly, with the easy confidence of someone who knows so much more than you that it's not even worth arguing the point. "I'm asking about you, Yuuta."

"You would be surprised how many people don't know history, or even their own," he replies. "I'm from Japan, currently, the Shinbuku district in Tokyo. It was 2010 the last time I saw a calendar."

"I know all history from my time and before," he commented mildly. Lucifer has an air about him like he knows more about you than you do, and will never tell you those secrets. "Hm. Modern times, relative to mine. Interesting. And you think starting your own bookstore will make you feel more at home- I hope that works out for you."

"I hope it does as well, or at least gives me an actual purpose for being here," he said, scowling a bit. "Unlike those who just seem to accept that it's alright to be put here against our wills."

"Some people have nothing to live for," Lucifer said. "No, it isn't alright. Not for those of us with work to do. Honestly, I can't stand the thought of my body walking around without me back home. Who knows if the mirrors are even showing what's real? The truth could be so much worse. It's unsettling, isn't it?"

"I don't even want to think about that," he muttered darkly. "I had things I was working on, things I wanted to accomplish and complete. That someone else is doing who knows what is infuriating me."
