THE GARDENS seafronted October 21 2011, 04:16:41 UTC
[ During the day, the gardens are a place of pumpkins and apples, autumn plants and harvest. At night, they are a place of costumes and pranks, with ghost stories being told under tall trees. ]

And then he crushed his stepmother's skull with a millstone, avenging himself so that he could live among humankind once more.

[She finishes her gruesome tale with a smile, a group of horrified children staring up at her.]

[Though hanging back and not standing among the children themselves, Sephiroth has been quietly listening to her story as well, though he is not horrified.]

[We found her a costume this morning. Christine is still smiling easily when she looks up and notices Sephiroth, her expression dulls a little, not out of displeasure but out of distraction. She pushes up off the rock she had seated herself on, coming to greet him.]

So here he is in person, how imposing.

THE ROAD seafronted October 21 2011, 04:18:09 UTC
[ Though not all buildings have been decorated, some have, pumpkin motifs and reminders of the spirits that are said to walk Promenade sitting on windowsills and porches. At night, trick-or-treaters are common, ringing on door bells before scampering away with their prizes. ]

[Giles has mercifully managed to escape a costume. He'll be wandering up and down the Road for a few hours, sampling what there is to sample and talking to anyone who looks in a mood to talk.

He's not terribly fond of the reminders of the presence of spirits, occasionally giving the decorations an obvious side eye. He tries to focus much more on the turning to his favorite season and much less on what it means to this place. Tries to remember Halloween back home, a day that should have been a day of quiet and peace and almost never was.

When the sun starts to set, he pulls a folding lantern from his bag, lights it, and heads over to the beach for ghost stories.]

[Nepeta's easily excitable at the best of times; during festivals she's barely stoppable.

And of course, if sugary treats have been involved, that only makes it worse.

This all means that she runs into Giles before she stops to think anyone might be in front of her. Thus he is faced with an apologietic kittytroll dressed as a cat]

Oops! Sorry!

[He stumbles at the impact before looking around in surprise for whoever was the cause of it.

...his gaze does eventually tick down enough to notice the newcomer.]

Nepeta? Good Lord. It's been a while, hasn't it?

THE BEACH seafronted October 21 2011, 04:19:07 UTC
[ There are not many swimmers this time of year, but the beach will always be a great place for bonfires. Stories are told here as well, often out of earshot of some of the younger children so they aren't frightened. ]

[Giles will put in an appearance almost as soon as the bonfires are lit, and stay there most of the night.

He never seems to run into a shortage of stories to tell to anyone who looks halfway likely to listen. Most of them are from home, a few wrenched from the depths of his own imagination. But when you come from the sort of world he came from, it's probably not unexpected.

If he likes you're story, of course, he might offer some appropriate accompaniment via the guitar.]

Giles? [Have a fairy Rapunzel walking up to you.]

[Giles looks up from his examination of nothing very much. It's a second or two before he recognizes Rapunzel in the light of the fire, and he brightens when he does.]

Hello, Rapunzel. That's, um, that's quite a nice costume.

The Magic Box consultmybooks October 21 2011, 04:39:43 UTC
[Maybe you're not the sort to investigate a magic shop during this festival. Maybe you're not the sort of person to tempt fate after recent horrors. Maybe you just don't have much truck with magic.

But in this weather? Giles is getting that more than a few might have reason to slow down and investigate the possibility of hot tea.

And so he can be found, sitting in a folding deck chair outside the front door of his Place of Solace. A table has been pulled up next to him, a table with a small portable burner to keep kettles of hot tea or mulled cider or, yes, even coffee, nice and hot for passersby. Until then? Giles is occupied with his book, or his PORTAL. He's even not taking advantage of the festival to perform illicit activities.

Yet.

Stop by for a chat?]

[ This is certainly the eye opening spectacle for the headmaster. Lots to see and do here...it's almost overwhelming really. But Helios has been making his way through the city since he arrived, trying to get his bearings and whatnot. He stops as he notes the oddly out of place store. The Magic Box, hm? It sounded like something he'd definitely investigate and so...here he was by sheer coincidence. He notes Giles sitting outside of it with tea at the ready a small smile tinging his features as he walks up closure. ]

It's a rather nice little shop I'll have to admit. Enjoying the festivities?

From a safe distance, at the moment.

[Giles smiles faintly up at Helios before indicating the pot.]

Want some? I didn't even dream it up, this time. Made it the old fashioned way.
