Title: Stray Cardboard Boxes (1/?)
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Romance/Comedy
Pairing(s): KyuHan. ShiHan.
Warnings: None.
Summary: Based on the manga, “Tramps Like Us.” It was one night of clumsiness that cost Geng a scuffed shoe and an accidental meeting with a runaway Kyuhyun. Generous and rather stupid, he takes the unconscious male in to tend to his wounds, and somewhere along the lines makes him his pet as well. It wasn't his fault that the younger reminded him of his own dog back at China.

Stray Cardboard Boxes

Fast typing could be heard from the empty office of the twenty-fourth floor. Papers and pencils cluttered the small office desk; the laptop recklessly positioned near the edge as the fingers typed away. The clock chimed as it struck eleven o'clock on the surface. Pushing away the papers that hid his cell phone from view, he picked it up, and flipped it open.

No calls, text, or emails.

Pursing his lips together, he shoved the phone into his pockets before taking his laptop with him.

He wasn't surprised, really. He shouldn't be surprised. Three months into the job and he hadn't made a single friend inside the office. Well, he had Heechul, but the man was too drunk most of the time to give him a call, and it was a Friday night.

Clutching the laptop to his chest, he made his slow journey down the block.

It was once more a lively night in Seoul, despite the time. Geng kept walking, catching pieces of conversations and faces as he walked past all of them.

Since his arrival here just a few months ago, nothing was 'happening' for him. He had came to Korea to broaden his experiences and gain some knowledge along the way. China was his hometown, yet everything was too familiar and in his comfort zone. Although Geng was beginning to think that it wasn't such a good idea to come here. His mother was against it after all.

Then again it was only three months. He'll give it a few more months.

A lot could happen by then.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a split second as if making a small wish. Opening his eyes, he looked around his surroundings. A slow small smile formed on his tan features as he watched the lively chattering people mingling with another. Everyone had their own life, everyone seemed to be busy, waiting for something, for someone.

The sounds and sights of Seoul always made him cheerful. It was different from the homey, plain country feeling back at home. Seoul was loud, boisterous, flashy with bright neon signs and tall buildings that touched the sky. It was just filled with so much life and wonder that kept him going.

Seoul, Korea had so much to offer.

And Geng be damned if he didn't seize the chance.

Feeling his spirits lifted, he made his way through the crowd. It was another Friday night and he didn't plan to mope around.

Walking into a quiet neighborhood, he shuffled his pockets for his keys. Dinner on his mind as his foot tripped over a large cardboard box. Covering from the small fall, he glanced over to the object that had caused his pain.

“I thought it was against the rules to leave trash out at night..”

Feeling curious, Geng leaned forward and opened the box. He yelped and backed away, startled by the contents of the box.

“Calm down Geng. It must be my imagination. I've been working too hard, no breaks in between or anything. I'll just..I'll just take another look to confirm. It's probably nothing.” The Chinese man mumbled to himself as he gathered his courage and walked over to the brown box.

But it wasn't his imagination. It was very real and he was very much living in a reality where he had just stumbled on a potential murder case, or not. The body in the box was very much alive, if not just sleeping and a little bloody.

He knew he lacked a few screws in his head when he had decided to take the 'thing' to his apartment, especially when the fall had scuffed his expensive shoes.

Geng slammed the door shut and locked it, leaning against the door for support as he panted softly, catching his breath. He couldn't believe he was that tired from half picking up and half dragging the box to his apartment. He checked the peephole twice, just in case that weird turtle wielding landlord of his was walking around.

_

He watched the boy shiver unconsciously as he applied a hot cloth to his forehead. Geng pulled the blanket over the male, watching the slow rise and fall of the sleeping figure's chest. He had managed to clean the minor injuries and washed the sleeping male's face.

It had taken awhile for him to realize that the little bumps on the cheeks were not bruises, but just pimples. He had regretted spending the whole fifteenth minutes applying 'soothing' ointment to the male's face, who in turned hissed at the burning sensation.

Sitting by the couch where the boy laid, Geng got a good look at him.

Soft brown, shaggy curls graced his face. His skin was pale and somewhat marred by pimples that could be taken cared of with a few pimple remedies. He stared at the long eyelashes, wondering what colored eyes the male had. It could only be brown, but what shade?

The nose was long and nicely defined, Geng could have sworn it was from plastic surgery, but that accidental smack he had sent was proof that it wasn't. Soft, pale lips were curved into a small frown that matched his furrowed eyebrows as the boy shifted in his sleep.

Taking all this into consideration, Geng figured that he wasn't a boy, but probably a teenager, an older teenager. The male looked to be at least twenty if he wasn't mistaken. Then again, even in his sleep there was an aura of maturity and authority around him.

Geng couldn't quite put his finger on it.

All he knew that from those soft brown curls, he reminded him of his own dog back at home.

Geng sighed softly as the male sneezed right into his face.

It was going to be a long night.

_

Judging from his backache, Geng figured he had fallen asleep on the wooden floor that night. Groaning softly as he rubbed his aching back, he sat straight up, meeting chocolate brown eyes.

He blinked and stared back as the pale teen continued to give him an unblinking stare.

Feeling nervous and strangely like some pervert, he stood up.

“I found you..On the streets in front of my apartment building last night..So I took you in. I didn't do anything to you! If that's what you were thinking. Except I cleaned you up and fixed your injuries.”

He was met by a long silence that lasted merely two minutes.

“I'm hungry.”

A small blush formed on the male's cheeks as he snuggled back under the covers.

“Oh, right. I forgot. I have some leftover congee. I'll warm it up for you.”

Mumbling softly as he trekked to the small kitchen, Geng warmed up the white porridge. Once it was hot enough and ready to eat, he poured it into a small bowl.

Geng sat the tray on the table and sat back down on the floor. He watched as the boy dived for the bowl, swallowing the contents in a matter of seconds before downing the side dish. Once he was done, he patted his stomach and pulled the covers over him, getting ready to sleep again.

“Hey, aren't you going to tell me your name? I fed you. It's the least you could do.”

Although he was hoping for a sincere thank you as well.

What he got in return was a undistinguished muffle and a snort before the male pulled down the covers and met his gaze.

“I don't give my name to strangers. Especially ones who don't zip their pants properly.” Dark eyes traveled to the open fly before back up to Geng.

“Pervert.”

Feeling his cheeks rise in embarrassment, he hastily zipped his fly.

“Hey. I helped you back there. The least you could do is thank me and tell me your name.”

The covers were drawn down again as the snarky male fixed him yet another stare.

“What was that? I don't understand you. Your Korean is horrible.”

Annoyance and anger boiling inside, Geng yanked the covers down and threw them to the ground.

“Hey!”

“Listen here. This is my home that you're currently sitting your fat ass in. Normally I don't go around picking up random strays-” He ignored the snort. “But you seem to be fine, so you can leave. Door's that way.” He pointed to the door with his thumb, glaring at the younger male who merely glared back.

Seeing no movement, he opened his mouth to speak, only to be cut off.

“I..Have no where to go. I'm Kyuhyun...And your cooking is bland.”

He blinked at the response and registered it into his mind.

“My cooking is not bland! Congee is always bland!” The older man retorted, feeling offended by the comment.

“And why do I care if you have nowhere to go?”

He stared as Kyuhyun stared back. The brunette blinked before laying back down. He pulled the covers up, covering his face once more.

“I'm still talking to you! You think I'm going to let you stay here? Well I think you're crazy.”

“Doesn't matter. Your cooking is still bland...Pervert.” He didn't bother pulling the covers down, back towards the Chinese male.

Knowing that he was fighting a losing battle, Geng sighed softly and shook his head. He was being too nice as usual. He knew where this was going.

“Okay. How about this..” He clapped his hands and paused, wondering if he should go for it. Deciding to just fuck it and take the plunge, he continued.

“I let you stay here. On one condition..”

He could hear the blanket being pulled down as Kyuhyun looked at him.

“And what's that?”

Cringing softly at his own idea, he sighed and shook his head once more. He glanced at the soft, brown curls and frowned. They really did remind him of Duo Duo.

“You be my pet.”

He was met with silence, but he kept on going. “I feed you, I clean you. You'll have no rights since you're a pet, and I'll give you the occasional treat if you're good, but a punishment if you're bad.”

Geng waited for the male to respond, knowing the answer would be no. He was aiming for that anyways. No self respecting human on the planet would take up such a ridiculous offer.

“That's it? Fine.”

He stumbled and took a step forward, yanking the covers away since Kyuhyun had covered himself with them again.

“What did you say?”

The younger of the two rolled his eyes in frustration. “I said fine. I'll take your offer. It's easy. Food, a roof over my head, a bed to sleep on, and it's all free.”

Geng blinked, taking in what the snarky man just said.

“But I can clean myself of course. I don't want you raping me while I'm defenseless.”

He was greeted by a smirk before the covers were drawn over.

“Sorry to say that I don't go for skinny boys like you.” Geng retorted as he left Kyuhyun alone.

That snarky, ungrateful brat.

And he had taken said snarky ungrateful brat in. What the hell was he thinking?

_

“Okay. The loft bed is yours. You know where the kitchen is and of course you know where the living room is. You can use the guest bathroom. You can't ever go into my bedroom or the study room, got that?”

He was given a disgruntled 'whatever' before officially kicking Kyuhyun off the couch. It was about time for his morning shows and he didn't want the snarky man hogging his couch all day.

The rest of the day had gone by rather quickly much to his relief. Geng never in his life wanted Monday to come by fast. He didn't even really like his job!

It was a pain, but he had managed to squeeze some information out of Kyuhyun to make sure he wasn't housing a runaway idol or a mafia leader.

The male was actually twenty one years old and was a student at some school that the other didn't tell him. It wasn't really much, but it was good enough for him. Kyuhyun wasn't even much of a talker anyways.

“I'm going for a walk.” He walked over to where the loft bed was, looking up to the male that was laying flat on the bed.

“Wait. I want to come.”

The response startled him and he stood on his ground as he watched the younger male climb down. Scratching his head idly, he looked to Geng before walking away.

“Let's go.”

Left to stare dumbly, he blinked and followed his 'pet' out the door.

_

Much to Geng's amazement, walking with Kyuhyun wasn't so bad. He would ask questions about the other, and would get a yes or no response in return. Sometimes the younger would simply settle for grunts and shrugs.

He walked side by side with the snarky man as he took his time, watching bypassers and occasionally doing some window shopping. It wasn't that he was broke, he was actually quite well off, but that there was nothing that needed to be purchased.

“Kyuhyun-ah, what would you like for tonight's dinner?”

He stopped when he received no reply and turned around to catch the male stopping at a particular store. Hands in his pockets, he walked over to see what could make the snarky male shut up.

Kyuhyun was standing in front of a game store. It wasn't just any game store, but the one store that was selling Starcraft II. The game wasn't suppose to come out until next week!

Ignoring Geng's presence, he kept his eyes on the display, memorized by the beauty and art. Shaking off the dazed look, he dug a hand into his pockets and grabbed his wallet.

A disappointed frown graced his pale features as he stared at the empty contents of the wallet. He was completely and utterly broke.

Geng watched the transition of emotions on the snarky man's face. He had never seen something look so sad and crushed in his life.

“You like that game?” He asked as he pointed to the display. Not waiting for Kyuhyun's response, he stepped into the store.

“Hey wait, what are you doing?” Kyuhyun was silent for once as he followed Geng and watched the man pluck the package from the shelf. He continued to watch in half horror half amazement as the man paid with cash.

Since the game was just released, it was at least over forty. The nerdy snark was secretly grateful.

“Here. Just take it. I like games too. Maybe you could show me how to play it.” Geng smiled as he placed it in Kyuhyun's hands, finding amusement at the dumb-struck expression on the male's face.

He laughed softly to himself was he walked out of the store, hands in his pockets, leaving the other behind to drown in his own thoughts.

Gazing at the box that was clutched tightly in his hands, he ran out the store, tailing behind the Chinese man.

“It doesn't matter what we're having for dinner. Just make anything.” He took a look at the game in his hand once more time before dumping it into his bag.

_

When Kyuhyun had said Geng's cooking tasted bland, he took it all back. Of course he wouldn't tell the male that. The younger male was happily devouring his third bowl of fried rice that the male made, not noticing the fact that he had ate Geng's portion in the process. It wasn't like the man was paying attention anyways. He stopped mid chew, glancing over to his 'owner'.

Geng was currently on the phone, talking to the one and only Kim Heechul.

He was very grateful for befriending someone like Heechul, even if the male was weird, cranky, and sometimes drunk. This was one of the few times where he wished his Korean friend was drunk.

“Yah! I can't believe you waited a day to tell me this! This is juicy news, you know!”

He groaned softly as he pulled the phone from his ear. His friend could be really loud when he wanted to be.

“I told you! It's nothing big really. He's just my pet. I feed him and take care of him. You know, like a dog. He reminds me of Duo Duo.”

He could practically imagine the eye rolling which was followed by a soft tut.

“Hannie! You are such an idiot. He could be a serial killer or a rapist!” Geng blinked as he listened to his friend babble. He glanced over to where Kyuhyun was at, watching as the male cruelly stab a piece of meat with the chopsticks before popping it into his mouth.

He sighed and averted his gaze. “I don't think he's any of those. Just looks like a regular kid to me.”

“Maybe he's a runaway? Anyways, that's not important. Did you sleep with him yet?” He coughed loudly as he clutched his throat, earning a strange look from Kyuhyun.

“Are you okay?” The tall male asked from where he was sitting, worry laced in his voice as he passed Geng a nonchalant look.

He waved his hand and shook his head. “I'm fine! I'm fine!”

Ignoring the look that Kyuhyun tossed him, he averted his attention back to the phone at hand.

“Don't say such things! Why would I? He's practically a kid! Plus, I don't go for the skinny, snarky ones.” He made a small noise as Heechul burst into laughter.

“Well you should. He's young and full of energy! If I were you, I'd jump him!”

“I'm glad I'm not you then.” Geng murmured softly.

_

“The printer's jammed again. Could you fix it, Geng?”

“Ah yes...Of course.”

It wasn't that his job didn't pay much, he just didn't like it much. Even though his position wasn't impressive, the company that he worked for certainly was. SP or Sapphire Pearls was the largest publishing company in all of Korea. Working in an a small cubicle wasn't all that appealing to him, although the pay was nice.

He flashed a smile to the cute young man before heading off towards the 'problem'.

That Donghae sure was cute, Geng wouldn't mind having him as a friend in the office. Perhaps he would ask the male to coffee or something, the Chinese male pondered as he popped open the cover of the printer.

Heechul had to be drunk or something to suggest such a thing. Like he would ever think about sleeping with Kyuhyun! The boy was okay, but he was such a pain sometimes, not to mention rude and snarky. Also rather revolting. He wrinkled his nose in disgust, recalling the horrid memory of Kyuhyun walking around the house clad in nothing but boxers.

He snorted as he got the empty cartridge out, figuring the problem already.

Staying up late playing games, letting out the occasional fart when he knew Geng was in breathing distance, and worst of all, stealing food off his plate when he thought he wasn't watching.

He sighed softly as he pushed the cover down and stood back.

“There, done.”

If he were to date, he wanted to go for someone that could take care of him. Someone kind and generous, mature, but not too witty for his own good. A person who's strong mentally as well as physically. He didn't want a skinny weed.

Then again, he didn't want to be too picky. It had been a shock for his parents to come to terms that he wasn't going to get married to a nice, pretty girl. Thinking back, he was lucky that they accepted his decision.

Curving his lips into a small smile, he walked out of the room dazed.

It would be nice to have strong arms wrapped around you.

He really needed to stop watching drama and reading manhwa in his spare time.

“Ah, Hyung..I baked some cookies, would you like some?” The angelic voice that was directed at him was none other than Ryeowook, the company's resident “cutie”. That one co-worker Sungmin was also on par, but the man had decided to switch to a manlier look. Although Geng didn't think the pink cubicle of his was making him any manlier.

He smiled at the shorter male and nodded. “Sure. I'll try one.” He picked a cookie from the plate that was offered to him and bit into the white chocolate cookie.

“It's really good, Ryeowook-Ah. You should give me the recipe sometimes.”

Ryeowook blushed and nodded numbly, watching in a daze as Geng walked back to his cubicle.

Much to Geng's ignorance, he was fairly popular in the company. The Chinese co-worker, the foreign one, the one that wore those nice tight pants where you could almost see the curves of his ass if you look closely enough, according to Sungmin that is.

_

He rushed in, squeezing between the closing gaps of the elevator door. Pressing the button, he leaned against the wall, catching his breath. He didn't want to wait another ten minutes for the elevator and the stares was a big no since he was on the twenty-fourth floor.

“That was pretty dangerous.”

The Chinese man blinked, hearing the foreign language. He whipped his gaze to the source, eyes widening at the man besides him.

Black, short hair that was neatly styled into a sophisticated, suave style. Warm eyes, lips curved into a smile, and those dimples that accompanied that smile. Not to mention tall and handsome.

He gulped, eyes raking towards the man's butt before catching his eyes again. Geng laughed nervously as he rubbed the back of his head, feeling rather nervous and stupid all of a sudden.

“Ah..I do that a lot.” He replied.

“Do you..Do you speak Chinese?” Blood rushed to his cheeks as he blurted the question.

That was stupid. The man after all had addressed him in Chinese!

The man smiled again before replying.

“Just enough to get by. It's a necessary skill for business since we mostly do work with China.”

“Ah, right. Of course. Silly me.”

“I'm Siwon.”

“Geng! Hangeng! You can call me Geng...Or whatever you like.”

He blushed softly as he flashed a nervous smile at the taller man who had introduced himself as Siwon.

Siwon returned the smile, patting him on the shoulder. “Well, my stop's here. I gotta go Geng. It was nice meeting you.”

He flashed him one more dimpled smile before leaving.

Nice ass indeed.

Geng sighed in relief as the elevator doors closed, taking him down to the lobby. He offered a wave to a few of his co-workers before leaving.

Looking ahead, laptop in hand and jacket slung over his other shoulder, he loosened his tie and stepped out into the chilly, cool night. Not bad for a Monday.

Kyuhyun was not at all pleased to find the dazed, lovey dovey look on his “master's” face as he opened the door to greet him.

The greeting was followed by a statement declaring that he was hungry and for Geng to make him something. His suspicion was upped by a notch when the older man had simply nodded without a word or an argument.

The snarky man frowned and crossed his arms, eyes boring into Geng's retreating back.

“I'm dirty. Wash me up after dinner.” He declared loudly, ignoring the faint blush that was just waiting to surface on his pale features.

Kyuhyun smirked softly at the bewildered look that was thrown at him.

“C'mon, Master. Wash your pet. You're suppose to take care of me, remember?”

He especially loved the look of horror on Geng's face.

To Be Continued...Perhaps!
