I can now eat like a normal person

Do you know how difficult it is to eat pizza with a fork and knife? I was shown that with a sharp knife, it's pretty easy but how often do we get a sharp knife in a restaurant or even at home? For the last 16 months, I've had to eat soft foods or use fork and knife to eat. Today, I can finally pick up a slice of pizza and bite into it like everyone else. Why? Because today, my braces came off. =)

Sorry, but I don't do selfies. Besides, you can't really tell the difference since most of the work was done on the lower teeth, which isn't really visible when you smile. For those of you I haven't seen in a long time, you won't be able to tell the difference. For those of you who basically met me with my braces (which is more or less everyone I've met in Seattle), well, it'll look different just because the metal is no longer there.

Why do it if there is no visible difference? As I mentioned before, this is purely for necessity/medical reasons. Not having shooting ear pain is a HUGE plus. =P I do wonder why I bothered putting braces on the top when really nothing changed there. But the doctors say it's necessary and who am I to contradict a doctor?

After the braces came off, I was given a bottle of sparkling cider as celebration. =) I'll update this post later to include a picture of it. It certainly is time to celebrate. I can finally eat/drink many things I gave up for 16 months, like apples, pop, some candy, salad, chicken wings. The first thing I'm going to eat? A sandwich. I bet you were thinking it'd be pizza. hahaha. I haven't been able to eat sandwiches because they usually contain raw veggies and I haven't been able to bite through it. I've tried but it hurt. So, today, I'm going to eat one. =) Tonight, I think I'll have chicken wings. =)
