Work is still extremely busy. Annual performance review season has rolled around. As per my usual I put much more effort into that than necessary. I feel like I get a lot out of the process (plus I end up with better notes about what I've been up to). I think I've accomplished a lot, but my work has been a bit all over the place. At least I feel like I've been doing a good job with my current level of responsibility. But I am filled with envy and ambition and I don't want to coast.
Last week was a short week with a holiday on one end and a daycare holiday on the other. I've been on the rotation for shepherding my project's release process from last Wednesday to this one, and the next major release is coming up which also presented some complications.
Last weekend, I went to see Alita: Battle Angel, which I thought was a phenomenal adaptation. I really recommend it to fans of the manga or the earlier anime adaptation (which I think this movie exceeds in a lot of ways), and if cyberpunk sci-fi action spectacle appeals to you, it's a good day at the movies. If it doesn't, well, it's not making many "best movie ever" lists, and it's the sort of thing it is. But it's definitely a happy change from live-action anime adaptations that seem to miss the core appeal of the source material.
Yesterday evening, I made homemade tapioca pudding from
Clio Goodman's cookbook. Turned out quite well. (Was a little thicker than I wanted, either because I let it thicken too much in the middle phase of the cooking or maybe differences in the specific type of sweetened condensed milk made the ratio not ideal. But that was easily fixed by adding a little extra milk at the end.) Was possibly the first time I've made pudding from scratch, and it was pretty quick and pleasant.
