Nesting

I can't believe the year is nearly over.

Friday was my 3rd prenatal visit. Everything looked great according to our midwife. She said I had good pee (meaning my glucose levels are fine, no infections, and  no proteins)! Yay! We got to listen to the baby's heartbeat again. 144 bpm. The midwife kinda joked with us when she first placed the dopplar on my belly and was taking the heartbeat. She said, "Just as I thought you were a girl you slow down on me." The heartbeat slowed into the upper 30s but the baby was moving away at that moment and when she relocated the heart beat, it was up again. Both times now it has been in the 40s. Our midwife thinks the heartbeat "sex" test is about 80% accurate. Which would mean a girl. Paco and I have researched it and there is no evidence of its accuracy. In fact, Paco was sexed a girl before his birth, based on his heartbeat. So we could just have an awesome baby boy like him. We're not finding out the sex until the birth but I have to admit we've been wanting a girl first. I just think they're easier as babies and toddlers than boys are. I think it's partly because my nephew Hunter is such a handful. But as we watched "Love Actually" yesterday (our first holiday movie for the season) we agreed that if we could have Sam (played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster) we would be more than happy.

The baby's room is almost done! I am very happy about that because it means less work when I'm bigger and even more tired. We bought the crib on special after Turkey Day. It's a cherry color to match the cube shelves we have in the room. Paco bought me a glider with an ottoman for our anniversary (which was perfect since the "traditional" gift is wood - I got him a wooden valet) which is also in the baby's room. Slowly we've been cleaning out the walk in closet in that room and storing stuff in the new shed out in the backyard. Yesterday we went to Home Depot to get our tree and walked out with a new ceiling fan and two curtain rods for the baby's room. No tree mind you. We ended up getting the tree at Lowe's this year. They had a better selection and it was actually cheaper as well. I think the only other thing we need to make for the room are the curtains and maybe a dust ruffle. We made the blanket and bumper for the crib and bought a couple of sheets. We choose a planet and stars themed fabric. The bumper is purple on the other side. As we were checking out at Target the cashier saw the crib sheets and said, "Oh, you must be having a boy." I replied that we didn't know yet but I wish I would have said something else. Like the baby will even care about the color. The dang sheets were yellow, teal, green, and brown! These all match the planet fabric. We also wanted to get a purple one but they didn't have it. Oh, the only other thing we'll need is a cute rug. We're putting a lot of work into the room but we'll be co-sleeping for quite a while. We just like working on the room. Especially Paco. He's been so great with everything. He actually did most of the work on the blanket and bumpers once I'd found the patterns online. We made the blanket big enough for a toddler bed so it'll be around for a while.

I've started to really feel the baby in the past week. As it moves around sometimes it kinda knocks on the uterine wall. They feel like little bubbles or flutters but different. They're still hard to feel from the outside but Paco thinks he felt it twice now. I feel bad because I know he wants to feel the baby (I put his hand on my belly for half an hour last night) but it's still too small to really kick/punch hard. Still it is so exciting. I can't wait until it can hear so we can start reading to it, talking to it, and playing music for it.

Oh, and I looooove this weather. Just wish I had more clothes that fit me!
