Went to McDonalds with someone last week. I always throw my coin change into the Ronald McDonald House box. The person asked why I throw my money away like that.

When I was 8, and my brother was in the hospital that was 45 minutes away, and we didn't know if he was going to live or die, my mom (and occasionally I) was allowed to stay in the Ron McDon House so that she could be closer overnight. I have a very vivid memory of staying with her in the room on July 4th; we were playing War and we could hear the fireworks outside. I also remember the game room, where I could play foozball and Ms. PacMan.

They helped us out when we needed it. They can have my change for the rest of my life. It's not throwing it away; it's helping someone else who needs it.
