ACEN 2006

May 11, 2006 01:18

Hiya! ACEN is over and done for this year. *tear* I can't wait for next year, tho... Emily and Derek joined Lindsay and I for the first time which was very cool. I think they both had a good time. Derek was making plans for next year as we got into the car on Sunday. We did come up with a few new cosplay ideas for next year too. Yet, I don't want to rant about them too much since one is really goofy, I want them to be a surprise and one idea would be super easy for others to copy. The only thing I'm going to let myself rant about is that one idea (the Derek and I really want to do) will require us to build a brand new tool for the shop... hehehe... yay for power tools and engineering for the sake of anime. Plus, there were a lot of Gaara's this year. Sure, I love my outfit (especially that gourd) but I feel like I need something more ... um... unique. XD

ACEN itself was awesome. Met up with people we met last year and met new people this year. Biggest dissapointment: having to leave the masquerade before the results ceremony to get the pizza we ordered. Note for next year, masquerade never starts or ends on time... ever. Highlight of the year: "Gaara on Vacation". I had no idea the reaction I would get simply by trading in my trench coat for a hawaiian shirt and japanese rice-paper umbrella. I was getting stopped for more pictures in that outfit than I did in the actual costume from the manga.

I'm tempted to run through all the things that happened over the 52 hours of ACEN, but it all blurs together and I'm not a fan of typing that much. So, I'll just bring it down to essential keywords: Suite upgrade, vanishing money, Gaara, Kiba, SNJ Gaara, SNJ Shika, dealer room, wide aisles(yay!!!), photoshoot, sandcest, "my girl parts are afraid", two busted elevators, Kankuro, Starfire, artist alley, poker dogs, naked gaara picture, bondage, hentai, yaoi, snacks, tattoos, hair-dye and road construction.

Next years plans
Cosplay: Gaara (vacation version), something from FFVII???, something else for the masquerade.
Get a table in artist alley.
Go on Thursday.

I stole Lindsay's picture of us... :D

After getting around I-94 construction that dragged us to a halt only 4 miles from the Paw Paw exit, we made it home and unloaded a very full car. Less than 24 hours later my sister was off on a plane to Vegas to get married. Which should have happened at 8:15 Michigan time yesterday. Hopefully my dad took pictures. I would have loved to have gone, but $1000 for a 15 minute ceremony at the little white chappel? Nope. Don't think so.

More on that later. Now I'm off to research and draw in preparation for next year's Con. Hope to see you all there. :)
