Another run tonight, but a long one this time. It was supposed to be shorter (8.4 miles) but when I got to the turnaround I felt good enough to press on, so I did. The deceptive thing about that (gauging how you feel at the halfway point) is that you are only halfway and still have to run back.
Distance: 10.00 miles/16.09 kilometers
Time: 1 hour; 32 minutes; 12 seconds
Avg Pace(mi): 9:12
Avg Pace(km): 5:43
Avg Speed(mi): 6.52mi/hr
Avg Speed(km): 10.49km/hr
Temperature: 67F
Weather Conditions: Heavy Rain for the first 7 miles, transition to light rain and then to clear.
Milage for the week: 22.2
The weather and lower temperature really made a difference in my heart rate and capability to deal with heat. I kept the pace comfortable (~150 heart rate) and, even though I was soaked, never stopped. The rain was heavy enough it was streaming (not in droplets, but in a stream) off my forearms and off the bill of the hat I wore.
However, its running at times like these that you feel really hardcore.
