I got my Birth Certificate. I was confused that it did not have a gender listed (i looked over it like 10 times in front of my parents probably weirding them out). I ended up doing a web search on here and found this website with an explanation:

There's no need to get a new Birth Certificate when you change your name. The original plus proof of your name change is all you would need for any legal purposes that I know of (and when was the last time you needed your birth cert for anything anyway?).

Just wait until after surgery; you can then get a court order to re-issue it with the all-important "F" on it.
