Out the other side
I just realized that I never updated here. Oops.
I made it through surgery just fine. They got the tumor and were able to avoid putting a plate in my skull, they are pretty sure it was indeed benign although it has been sent off to pathology and I haven't gotten the results back yet. I had no memory loss or cognitive impairment and it looks like I won't even need physical therapy. I've been home for a couple of weeks and am pretty much back to normal, although I tire very easily. The post-op steroids were horrible, steroid withdrawal was even worse, but my pain levels are significantly down already and should only get better from here. I have a horrible haircut and a very interesting scar, and a rapidly growing collection of Very Excellent Hats.
The neurosurgeon was great, the team in the OR and the ICU was fantasric, and the rest of the hospital, well, not so much. There were... issues. But I have been fine ever since I got home and I am recovering well, and I thank you all again for your kindness and support. I am glad it's over.
