Uncle LS passed away last night. I'd known him for a long time but not really that well. He was one of my uncle's brothers in law, but their family is really close knit and all their kids (including my cousins on my mom's side) all grew up together here in California. They had parties almost every weekend. Uncle LS was a character, always ready with a joke and some sort of get-rich-quick scheme in his pocket. He wasn't even 60 yet, and he left behind a wife and 4 kids (mostly grown up, but still). It's still unclear what the cause of death was. He was found in a casino parking lot, in his car already dead. It was his son who found him, after his mom asked him to look since she was wondering why she hadn't been picked up from work yet.
It feels surreal, and it's hard to go through fb with all of the posts about him there.
Otherwise, things are ok I suppose. T is still pretty sick, his fever seems to have gone down but his cold seems just as bad as ever, and it's difficult to get him to sleep. We did manage to run most of our errands yesterday but still need to go to mass, likely later this afternoon. Hopefully he'll be well enough for that, though I'm not sure if we should take him since it might expose other children to his cold.
Rain seems to have let up, though not sure for how long. Work on the backyard has been held up indefinitely with the weather like this and it would be nice to get at least the demolition part of it done and the debris cleared away. We are getting the old greenhouse and spa removed (along with some trees), to be replaced with artificial grass to give the kids more space to play and run around in. It's going to be a lot of work but the quote was decent and we're going to take it one step at a time.
My mom is also going back home to Augusta tomorrow. Will be hard because it's nice having her here to help take care of T. My in-laws will be watching T again starting tomorrow, but they come Mon-Thur from 9-5 (sometimes earlier) so if we need to do something work or house-related at night or on the weekends it's a little harder to do so. Plus of course I get along with my mom a lot better than I do with my mom-in-law.
Unrelated, but I also suddenly feel like reconnecting with old friends, especially those back in Manila. I've deleted my old Instagram account that I never used, and created a new one that's private so that I can more freely post stuff that's going on in everyday life, rather than having to filter it like I do on fb due to too many 'friends' who are really more of acquaintances and who I don't want to spam with just random thoughts and minor goings-on.
This has been a long enough post. I should prob go do something productive while Theo is still sleeping.
