Diet and Exercise Time!

We had a family dinner on father's day--mom and a lot of relatives came for it. The next day mom calls me and spends 20 minutes, in this sad tone, of how much she worries about me since I've gotten fatter and how I don't exercise, which is bad for my heart. She sounded so worried and was near tears. I wasn't a healthy baby so she is scared that I'd ( Read more... )

*pats* I understand how you feel, my mother is no different from yours. It's great that you're eating healthier now though! I would recommend eating 4 times a day, except the portions of each meal should be watched over. Lunch should be hearty and very filling so that you wouldn't be eating as much during your dinner, which should be one of the smaller meals. I think watching your carbohydrate intake will help as well because of the sugars and such that it has. And trying not to eat after 9pm will help too.

Hunger is definitely not fun to experience, especially when trying to lose weight. But like your friend said, fiber really helps ease on it. Eat small cereal bars or whole fruits for snacks to stave the hunger away (and a great substitute for the juicing, hehe less work!). Nuts like peanuts and almonds (or walnuts) are a good after lunch snack as well.

As for oatmeal, I was never really fond of it myself. So usually, I choose to eat oatmeal in the form of oatmeal and raisin cookie twice a week as an indulgence. You have to treat yourself to something good as well when trying to eat healthy! ^^

The thing is my mom never or very rarely calls and do or say something like that, so it must be serious! I don't know...4 times a day is tempting. I don't think I'd watch my portion at all =X

I'm not sure what is considered ''hearty''--I know that the last time I was on a ''diet'' I had some thick soup for lunch and called it even. That was good, but now that I'm not in college anymore/haven't gone back its kind of hard to find soup like that around here. I need to learn how to make more stuff like thick soup!

Yeah, mom told me to stop eating rice, pasta, and bread. I still eat the bread (wheat would be the best to choose from the selection, right?) because I love me some Subway sandwiches. Those are carbs, right? =X BAH, I HATE THIS WATCHING WHAT I EAT THING! So confusing! I just never done it!

Yeah, my uncle knew about the nuts thing. He would give us some after dinner and put the rest back in the fridge.

Cereal bars are too sweet. Might have to stick with eating whole fruits -makes faces- The juicing is actually kind of fun for me -laughs- The clean up is a bitch and the cutting to fit the fruits in that tiny hole is annoying (getting a new juicer soon that allows to shove the whole thing in!), but its fun and gives me something to do that involves standing.

Yum. Oatmeal and raisin cookies sounds tasty. Don't most baking involve butter though? I treat myself to Subways sandwiches *-* I love those so freakin' hard. There is one being built near my house like a few blocks down. Once its open I think that is all I'm going to be eating XD Buy a footlong and eat half for lunch and half for dinner. Done and done!

The ''eat after 9pm'' thing doesn't work so well for me because we wake up late, eat late, and sleep late. Why does it matter if I don't eat after 9pm if I sleep around 4-7 AM?
