So yeah...
I'm thinking about something I've half been wanting to do for some time, but always been terrified of.
Basically, I've been collecting stories like a number of the ones below on my journal for ages now. Hundreds of in-jokes, loads of stories, a crapton of hilarious little things that myself or my friends have done over the years. I've seriously considered actually getting them together at some point and creating a short act for either one of the improv nights at AC or such (possibly one of the smaller cons if they have them, it'd go over better with a smaller audience, I think).
I'd considered it on the fly this year but passed due to both having some other things to attend that evening, and not being 100% on it. I've never exactly thought of myself as the cult of personality, whatever other people may say, but I *AM* convinced that a certain type of crowd could really get a chuckle out of 'The Monks of Do and other assorted tales', assuming I got ahold of the right group of people.
Koebi'd already commented to me that some of this could be really esoteric to people not in the know, and to some degree I agree with that, but I think with proper form, you can explain some injokes like the Henry Winkler effect (aka Arthur Fonzarelli particle field) with a minimum of trouble. Using that as an example, anyone old enough (shut up, you.) that remembers Happy Days, should understand what someone means when they explain that this embodies the ability to turn on jukeboxes in a radius of five miles. From there, it's just building upon that foundation and making the person or group go from that on to the next part of the joke while they're still too busy giggling.
Also, the last time I was on stage was like 15 years ago when I was still in school chorus doing the song from 'An American Tail' as the soprano lead, believe it or not. Yeeeaaaaah. let's just say I still have nightmares. Although Pony said I did pretty good when we last went out for karaoke. *shrugs*
Dunno. Might have to come together with something and see if it could work. I tend to be more an improv comic, I can't really remember well enough to plan this shit out, so we'll see.
