Drought

Sep 12, 2007 23:35

NC (and much of the Eastern US, I'm told) is suffering from a drought. As a practical implication of this, my water bill, which is normally about $5, was like $25 this past month. As a result, I'm doubly encouraged to save water. To this end, I took a "submarine shower" this morning. I got the idea from Tom Clancy's first book, "The Hunt for Red October", in which a submarine radio man (or was he on a carrier? I forget.) was rewarded by his commander with a "Hollywood shower"--i.e. one in which he could actually leave the water running while he lathered up.

It was...different. Soap behaves differently. I'm going to need to figure some things out regarding when to wash my face, so that I can rinse it and open my eyes. But it wasn't bad. I think I'll do it again tomorrow.

Us Americans are spoiled.

(Sorry for the rambly post. I be sleepy.)
