Her hand lightly grasping the cocktail in one hand, she delicately placed the edge of the glass to her gloss lips. A soft chuckle escaped as she recalled the events over dinner. She tossed her head up and chuckled once more. She could barely describe it, it is….let’s just say that it was eventful. Especially that slap, the slap.
The former Maou shook her head, the engagement was sure unexpected but then again, she had never expected her successor to be more cluttered brained than her. A smile lit faintly on her face, maybe it can lessen the tension around.
“Mother.”
The blond-haired lady turned her head towards the deep voice.
“Oh, it’s you Conrad dear, come in.” She gave a wave of a hand, gesturing for him to come by her side
“Mother,” The second son took a seat beside her, “Are you really fine with the arrangement?”
The lady gave an unrefined laugh, her blonde curls bobbing with her laughter. “What can I not be fine with?”
“Are you sure you want Wolfram to be engaged with His Majesty? And regarding the duel, Wolfram is strong, he had over 80 years of training after all, but His Majesty…”
“Conrad,” The laughter stopped. “I know you feel protective, over them both, His Majesty and Wolfram but they are not just boys. They are fine gentlemen.”
Conrad held the gaze of the former ruler. He seemingly hesitated for a moment before deciding against it and took a deep bow. “I understand.I should get going, goodnight Mother.”
Lady Cecile nodded and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before sending him off. She sighed, this is the issue that the whole Kingdom is worried about, the lack of a ruler or the presence of a weak ruler. However, there is something special about this young boy, he was neither aggressive nor was he old. He was…..pure, innocent, idealistic. Someone…someone different from the others.
Taking a short walk around the palace garden, she continued her ponders about this newcomer. He may be clueless but it seems that he had other intentions. She’s not sure but it seems that that maybe what the Kingdom needs someone with other intentions. The current Lords under him are tied in a power struggle, forever curry-flavouring the ones they serve so that in due time, they would be the one to seize power and be curry flavoured.
“Lady Cecile!” The sudden shout snapped her out of her thoughts.
“Ah, ah! Your Majesty!” Lady Cecile gasped in surprised. “It’s late for you to be out here.”
“Yes, I know but back at home, I’m usually out playing baseball till this hour, hahaha!” The black haired boy laughed sheepishly.
“You should rest, why don’t want the attendants to get flustered over the disappearance of the Maou, do we?” She winked, sending her successor into an embarrassed fluster.
“Well, alright then! You too Lady Cecile!” The boy bowed to take his leave before heading to the castle mains.
Watching the boy’s diminishing back, she shouted. “Wait! Yuuri!”
Yuuri stopped in his tracks. “Yes, what is it?”
Lady Cecile lowered her eyes, “I know this is hard but you have a place here too. This is your Kingdom as much as your home, your Kingdom as much as Earth. Nobody will live with the consequences of letting you get hurt, not even Wolfram. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone, because you are the rightful heir.”
Yuuri blinked, slightly bewildered by this sudden words. He smiled, softly illuminated by the moonlight. “For guiding for this stranger, thank you.”
Lady Cecile reciprocated his smile, “For accepting guides from this stranger, thank you.”
No further words were needed, they both know this is the beginning of the many steps to rebuilding the Maou Kingdom. 26th Maou and 27th Maou, Shin Makoku may see a new future.
Perhaps, perhaps Shinou was right afterall.
It's been a while since I'd been here. Been rather unexpectantly busy for the past 1.5 year (Sigh) Anyway, I had a sudden urge to write a KKM fanfic, plus had not been able to help with scanlating or translating anything, I feel bad about it, gomen D:
But once this year is over, I'm going to try to start translating the novel! Or maybe the manga, since the series is still missing some chapters. KKM is lacking so much love now, need more loves :3
