well, I guess we are too used to clueless and harmless anime!Yuri. But do you remember why he quit baseball? Coz he hit his coach. That bit of information hasn't really been emphasized anywhere, but it does let us know that Yuri could pull off something like that. So I guess throwing cups and yelling at Conrad shouldn't come as that of much of a surprise. After all Yuri is an ordinary human teenager ^_^

Well, Yuuri really 'is' the Maou, so I'm not surprised, really. I should think he hit the coach out of some sense of grave injustice, and used fists where the Maou would use water dragons. The emotion's the same - he's fierce in many ways, to be sure, at least in how he expresses himself. I'd imagine his humanity (tempered by his innately courteous Japanese schoolboy upbrining) represses the raw honesty (and sheer firepower) of the Maou during normal circumstances, but it does nothing to hide his committment to all those pure ideals. I think the Maou is very much like Wolfram in that way - loyal to a fanatical degree, exceptionally devoted to a cause, and like, Wolf, he can get physical expressing it. And perhaps even rude and childish, something we've seen in the Great Maou as well.

grave injustice or not, but you know not every person would consider hitting someone to prove their point. and, i think such behavior sort of contradicts Yuri's urge to resolve all fights peacefully without anyone getting hurt or killed.
... come to think of it, he hit Wolfram too XDD

Conrad and Yuuri at odds with each other...
Ice-cold Conrad keeping silent while Yuuri vents his anger and frustrations...
On top of that, peacelover Yuuri actually threw the cup (at Conrad, maybe... but I suppose he's too distraught to even make it it the target)

Shocking. Rather shocking.

I suppose I'm used to brotherly affections between Yuuri and Conrad (being the Nazukeoya that he is, I suppose it's mostly a given), that it's a 180 to see them arguing that way.

But then Wolfram lit my WolfYuu camp fire. XD

I like these lines between them:

"Liar. A sleeping person wouldn't have answered."

"It was a conditioned response. I sensed that you'd become all whiny, so I couldn’t leave you without a reply."

"Not even pretending to be asleep like you usually do?"

"That's because I am a kind person."

Although it's kinda intense, I gotta say it's a nice read.=)

Gotta hand it to you, niveous_magics. I really look forward to your KKM translations. Thanks for all your hard work!

Yuri couldn't really throw that cup at Conrad anyway coz he's blind, but he did it to attract Conrad's attention... I kind of understand him. Talking to Conrad sometimes is like talking to a wall, because he doesn't listen, so Yuri gets frustrated. It seams that he actually wants to be scolded and told that what he did was stupid, but Conrad doesn't tell him that. All he tells him to do is to let others think for him, to get away from responsibility. Which in turn contradicts with the fact that Conrad tells him to stop daydreaming and accept the harsh reality of what happened with Yozak, like he's already dead. That inconsistency makes Yuri angry and he says that he'd listen to it if it was coming from Gwendal, because unlike Conrad, Gwen doesn't sugarcoat things for Yuri, if he thinks that Yuri acts like an idiot he doesn't hide it. Or, at least that's how I see it. Conrad must be sad because of Yozak's "death", they were friends after all, but he has a strange way of showing it ( ... )

I cannot thank you enough for these translations.
I had no way of really knowing what was going on in the novels before, but you've allowed me to not only find out the plot, but also see the different ways in which the characters act, such as Conrad's hidden coolness, and Wolfram's maturity.
Thank you!!!

I'm glad you enjoyed reading ^_^ honestly, for me interaction between characters is much more interesting than the actual plot XD

Thanks so much for this. The end was really sweet ♥ I love how Wolfram tells Yuuri that Gunter is staying too XD

I’ve been suspicious about his preferences for a long time
Lol Yuuri xDD

Having learned about brother’s changed preferences I felt very uncomfortable. For some reason my bottom was itchy. Or, rather, than itchy, it felt prickly
I totally wht'd at this.

Also, good job for trying to throw things at Conrad. I'm sure that turned out well.

Wolfram just found a way to tease Yuri in the last moment, knowing that Yuri doesn't really have a choice other than staying in the same bed with Wolf and Gyun gyun anyway XDDDD

This is one of my favorite chapters in the entire series. To understand why things have gone south for Conrad and Yuuri, I think the people that are confused need a bit of context from the other previous books, though, considering the "betrayal arc" has lasted so much longer and still hasn't been properly resolved yet. Yuuri's anger at Conrad is deeper than this conversation implies, even though he obviously still cares about him too ( ... )

thanks so much for your comment! as someone who hasn't read novels before this one it's sometimes hard for me to understand why characters act the way they act. I think I understand the relationship between Yuri and Conrad better after what you've said. Yuri likes him a lot and he's looking for support. but the way Conrad treats him is very discouraging. he might have as well said, "you're useless, let adults deal with this." ://

>>> and they'll both understand what to say and what not to say their conversation is priceless. there's so much between the lines. and just the fact that Wolfram chooses to not leave Yuri alone in the darkness, even though he's probably mad as hell after what happened ( ... )

Yuuri has had a really, really hard time with Conrad's betrayal in the novels. There was actually a bit where he was considering betraying Caloria in a way that would allow him to regain Conrad (Wolfram noticed his intentions and wasn't happy, even though he also wanted Conrad back). But ultimately, I think it's been a good thing for Yuuri because it's forced him to rely on people he might not have before this, and grow as both a person and a king. But I think a lot of that bitterness is tainting his interaction with Conrad here. Like I said, it's still not really resolved yet ( ... )
