Hospital update

Was too tired to update yesterday, so I'm going to try to talk about the last two days.

So yesterday I walked Josh, then visited Mom in the hospital. I was only there for about fifteen minutes before they took her away for her stress test because there was something elevated in her blood so that they thought that she may have had a mild one. I managed to get out before the 30 minutes of free hospital parking ran out, so it was a score on my end.

Back to walking dogs, then came back again in the afternoon, but Mom remembered a bill that she thought was due on Monday, so she gave me a check and sent me home, where I looked at the calendar and it wasn't due until next Monday, so I decided not to rush to the bank. More walking, and then I was on my way to visit in the evening, and maybe stay for a decent amount of time, when my car got scraped. Sigh.

I was sitting at the stoplight, when a car decided to squeeze between me and the car waiting in the meridian to turn left (coming from the other direction) and he totally miscalculated and scratched my driver's side back quarter with his passenger side back quarter. We traded our information and I went on to Josh's house.

I was about to call my insurance company, when Mom called me. She had just talked to the doctor, and it turns out that she had three small strokes (with no neurological damage), but no heart attack, and they wanted to keep her in the hospital for a couple more days in order to regulate her with blood thinners, so she could probably go home Saturday. Great news!

However, I was still trying to get to the hospital before they locked down the lobby at 8p, so I decided to call the insurance company while I was on the walk. I got out of the car, walked towards the house, then saw the owner's dad walking behind Mittens, the cat. Who is not supposed to get out of the house. And once he is out of the house, it's no skip through the park to get him back in. I spent twenty minutes (while Josh got hysterical in the house, knowing I was there and WHY WASN'T I WALKING HIM IT MUST BE EVIL SPIRITS KEEPING ME FROM HIM), only giving up when Mittens decided to bite and scratch me, and this is a six-toed cat, so there were extra toes for extra scratching. I went in to get Josh (I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!!!), went outside, and Mittens was still hanging out in the next door neighbours' garden. He and Josh are pals, so I decided to walk over with him, Mittens just stayed hanging out, so I bent down, picked him up, took him into the house and said, "Surprise!"

Finally started walking Josh, called the insurance company, then got to the hospital by about 7.55p. Visited until 8.30p, then did two more visits. These days are pretty long.

Today I set my alarm at 7a so I could sleep an extra hour, but woke at 6a anyway. Didn't do a morning visit at the hospital as I went to my car repair place to document the damage. Hopefully the guy told the truth to his insurance company and we can get the car fixed with nothing out of pocket for me.

After my morning and early afternoon walks, I went home and got the mail and brought that to Mom. We were able to visit for a good long time, so long that I did my next bunch of walks starting an hour later than I meant to, which meant that I was late for choir.

Speaking of choir, I had been thinking for a couple of days about not going to Ireland on the choir tour. I just felt very uncomfortable with the idea of leaving Mom alone for three weeks, and I thought I could get most of the money that I have put down back. Mom was kind of upset that I would do this, she felt guilty that I would miss my trip that I have been looking forward to for so long, but I put my foot down. After rehearsal, I talked to the choir director, who visibly blanched. Apparently, it will be a pretty sparse soprano section. Then I suddenly thought of a happy medium: I can go to Ireland for ten days, just not then continue my trip afterwards. I think leaving for ten days and having people check in on Mom every day, that I can do. Yay, I can still sing in Ireland! Very pleased that it will all work out.

Then Mom called and the doctor said that if her test results tomorrow are as good as her results today, she can go home tomorrow instead of Saturday! All this, and I can sleep in until 8a tomorrow, you know, if my brain will let me!
