New toys are fun

I just got my birthday present from Mary, a portable car GPS that can also play mp3's.  Aside from sometimes taking a long time to acquire a satellite signal, it works great!  I already used the built-in yellow pages to discover a really good Viet/Thai restaurant near work that I didn't know about before, and it gave me accurate turn-by-turn directions on how to get there.  The mp3 player works well so far too, although I'm still learning how all of the controls work.  The sound quality seems as good as an iPod, and the large touch-screen is a lot easier to operate when driving than the iPod's scroll wheel.  If you're playing music while using the navigator to get somewhere, it will pause the mp3 to allow the voice to say "turn left on Main Street in 200 feet", and then resume playing the song.  Much nicer than trying to hear the voice directions over a typical car stereo.

In FFXI news, I finally got my NIN to 37!  Now I can rival BRD's as an uber merit party puller on COR/NIN, solo avatars as WHM/NIN, survive tanking Proto-Ultima when I pull hate, and do lots of other fun stuff.  Well, at least after I learn how to tank with Ni/Ichi.  I still have yet to actually cast Utsusemi: Ni; I got the last 1000 exp that I needed to cap NIN from an exp scroll.

Spent a good part of Sunday Yovra farming - got 2 organs for myself (for Light Gorget - works on both Hexa Strike and Slug Shot) and around 7 others for various people.  Thanks to everyone who came out and helped on that :).  Took a break to see Last King of Scotland (highly recommended) in the Davis Square theater, and as usual couldn't find anyone to do ENM's or Nyzul with when I got back.  Damn everyone and their statics :(.
