The last episode was cute, but could have been cuter if they hadn't spent so much time on Zheng Kai'er. (Also, NOOOO WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO PAUL. DDDD:) They totally could have wrapped this up in 24 episodes, because about half of ep25 was flashbacks, but hey, they hit a new high going out, so I guess they knew what they were doing.
I said before that when OG ended, I would go back and watch Roy Chiu's old dramas (Easy Fortune Happy Life, Woody Sambo, The Girl in Blue, Original Scent of Summer, etc.) to make up for the lack of Roy in my life. Buuut school is messing with my plans, and I'd feel guilty binging on dramas when I'm supposed to hitting the grind. I may watch an episode every once in a while, but it most likely won't be consistent.
I also recently found out about Die Sterntaler (白色之戀), an upcoming twdrama starring Rhydian Vaughan, who I've wanted to see in an idol drama for a long time. (And Love Recipe doesn't count, because of how awful it was.)
It appears to be a remake of the jdrama Hoshi no Kinka (Heaven's Coins), and the English name of the twdrama is from the German fairy tale The Star Money. I am still in love with anything remotely related to German, so this drama already gets +100 points from me.
According to Wikipedia, Die Sterntaler is a joint Taiwanese-Japanese project, and will star Nikki Hsieh and Sphinx Ting alongside Rhydian, both of whom I've never heard, but oh well. Filming started in Japan on Valentine's Day (does that mean Rhydian is still single? ;_;), and is expected to end in mid-June. No news yet on a specific air date, but it should be sometime this year.
The story follows a deafmute girl called Xiao Cai (Nikki Hsieh) who is looking for her fiance Chu Yongxiu (Rhydian Vaughan). She goes from Hokkaido, Japan to Taipei, Taiwan, and when she gets to Taipei she meets Yongxiu's stepbrother Chu Yongtuo (Sphinx Ting). Younger bro is the typical bad boy, a playboy who hides a gentle and kind heart, and he takes her in. Apparently her fiance was in an accident prior to this all and lost his memories of her, and at the same time she realizes she's falling in love with the younger brother.
Sound kind of lame? Yeah, it does. But the plot seems to be exactly the same as that of the jdrama, so they probably didn't have a lot of leeway to change things. And I've been through stupid plots before, so I'm sure I'll be able to get through this.
Quick character summary:
Rhydian Vaughan as Chu Yongxiu: 30-year-old surgeon, eldest son of the founder of a hospital in Taiwan. After hearing about his father's terminal illness, he rushed back to Taiwan, only to get into an accident and lose his memory.
Nikki Hsieh as He Yuncai (Xiao Cai): 22-year-old orphan, taken in by her maternal grandfather in Hokkaido. After graduating, she worked at his clinic, which is where she met Yongxiu.
Sphinx Ting as Chu Yongtuo: 26-year-old second son, always under the shadow of his superior older brother. Because he thinks his father treats him unfairly, he developed a frivolous attitude toward life, although of course he is hiding a gentle side. lol.
Reen Yu as unnamed second girl: 28-year-old girl who is afraid that Yongxiu will leave her. Is nameless as of now, although I'm sure she'll get a name eventually, lol. The only notable thing about her is that the actress was Xiao Mei (the hamburger girl) in Black & White.
Aaand that's all for now. I'll be checking up on this drama every once in a while, but won't post anything here unless it's super important. Cheers, and I'm off to do more homework.
