Absolutely the easiest fudge recipe I've ever tried

1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons butter plus a little extra for buttering the dish.
1 12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips (use a good quality chip for the best results)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts (optional and your favorite -- I like black walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts or macadamia nuts)

Combine butter and milk in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 2- 4 minutes, stirring every minute, until butter melts and milk is steaming hot - just barely to the boil.
Stir in chips, vanilla, and nuts until chips completely melt and combine with the milk.
Pour into a buttered (or lined with buttered parchment paper for easier cleanup) 9 x 9 dish.
Allow to cool completely until firm enough to cut into squares.

May be softer than some fudge, but will not have sugar crystals.

Peanut butter, butterscotch or milk chocolate chips can be substituted for the semi-sweet chips. Not tested with white chocolate chips.

Marshmallow cream may be stirred in after chips and nuts are combined to make Rocky Road fudge.

Layer peanut butter and chocolate fudges for a peanut butter cup fudge.
