I had previously noted that an episode of Days of Our Lives was less than 40 minutes when I edited out the commercials. I was even more perturbed by the fact that Supernatural wasn't quite 39 minutes without commercials and that's with annoying scroll ads included during the program.
No wonder I hate watching anything live. Over 20 minutes of commercials? Repetitive commercials at that. If they are going to show that many commercials, please have them be entertaining and not something I see twenty times in one evening, no matter what show I watch on what network. Cable channels are worse because of the ads for dubious products like miracle putty, less than effective cleaning products and too good to be true scratch removal paste. And all those questionable loan offers in this debt market? Please.
No wonder TV shows have become more hollow these days. They barely have time to present a plot, much less develop characters and include backstory. And on the Discovery networks, they insist on recapping everything they presented before the last commercial before telling you anything new and include previews for the next act as if everyone's attention span is only 8 seconds long. Some of those hour long shows do good to show you 20 minutes of information.
No wonder I keep the remote in hand with my finger on the fast forward button.
No wonder I prefer books and fan fiction.
