But wasn't this inevitable? The guy was 80 years old and had cancer. His chances of surviving Bush's presidential term were pretty slim. Maybe it's better happening now when everyone is scrutinizing the Bush administration so harshly. Bush might be more constrained in who he can pick as a replacement. I really don't know much about this. I'm just supposing.

It was inevitable. I just was keeping my fingers crossed that Rehnquist would hold out a little longer.

I just don't think that Bush cares one whit anything but his own personal agenda. (Or what Karl Rove is telling him to care about.)

He has nominated ROBERTS for the Chief Justiceship.
