"We Ought Not Die Continues" Baby Naming Wars

Aug 23, 2005 01:16

"We are not naming our son 'Bob.'" Clark protested from the middle of their bed where he and Lex were each studying a different baby naming book.

"Of course not, we'll name him 'Robert.'" Lex soothed.

"I don't think so."

"But Bob is a strong name for a man."

"No."

"How about Hal?"

"That's short for Harold."

"Helga wouldn't like that."

"No, she wouldn't."

"Erik?"

"Too close to Erok. She's already threatened the AI over that name. I don't want her coming after us."

"You're right. London? It means Fortress of the Moon."

"I don't think naming our son after a city or a fortress is a good idea. Are you just picking names at random?"

"I was just thumbing through the book. We could start at 'A,' but we might choose something out of desperation without even getting to the end of the alphabet. Here's one -- 'Connor' spelled with an 'o.' It means much wanted and strong willed. I think that a child of ours is bound to be strong willed and the much wanted goes without saying."

"Hey, I like that. Did you know that Kon-El would be 'of the family of the stars?'"

"That's interesting and might even be acceptable to the AI. Let's put Connor on the definite maybe list."

"Let's keep going. I'm sure that one possibility isn't enough to satisfy Mom and Helga."

"Hey, what about Astro?"

"That's not in the book!"

"It is too! It's Greek and means of the stars."

"Keep looking, Lex."
