2008 Year In Review

In looking at the past year, I can definately say that it was anything but boring. There were some definate highs and lows.

Lows first...they make the highs higher!!
In January I had to deal with the apparent suicide of one of my football players as well as the death of one of our football coaches from liver cancer. My boss at Eastern was also fired suddenly, and I had to deal with the aftermath of that both personally and professionally, as he was a boss but also someone whom I considered a friend. Anthony's mom passed away in July of cancer, and it was also the three year anniversary of my grandmother's death that same month. I also discovered my cousin is unable to have children, which is upsetting because she would be a great mom, and also because it makes me worried that I could have similar problems. My paternal grandmother is in a nursing home with dementia, and it looks like my family has decided to turn to palliative care for her a little sooner than I had hoped.

Now for the highs!!
I got out of an extremely negative, controlling, self-esteem shattering, all around unhealthy relationship, and in turn met the absolute love of my life!! This is probably the biggest thing that has happened to me this year. My mom and stepdad finally found a house that they moved into this week, and it is awesome! I am considering going back to school to get my doctorate in the fall of 2009. I was able to reconnect with wonderful friends I haven't seen in awhile, and I was introduced to some great new people through knowing Anthony and his friends and family. I also got the opportunity to travel to St. Louis on business and spend some time with my uncle who I don't see very often. My dog turned 14 and is still going strong, and Dorian the chinchilla came along, in addition to nine puppies, courtesy of Macy and Charlie, at Christmastime!!

As my sister put it New Year's Day...I hope 2009 is your best year yet!
