My first Christmas tree!!

Ok, kind of. I've had Christmas trees as a child of course, but ever since I moved out of Mom's and been living in Richmond I've never had a Christmas tree! Well this year is not the case!

Anthony has been saying for awhile now that it was almost time to get a tree. He started saying it probably early to mid November. And we'd also talked about it before, since he's just about as crazy over Christmastime as I am. So Thanksgiving weekend I decided to see if we could get one..and we did! He took me to Lowe's and we picked out a real one---eight feet tall, Fraser fir. I was too excited! I haven't had a real tree since I was probably five or six. I felt like the Griswalds, attaching it to the top of his Jeep with twine and driving off. We stopped and ate Chinese first, and we sat where Anthony had a birds eye view of the car just in case anyone tried to obscond with the merchandise. Then we picked up Pat and headed for my apartment to put up the tree. We also picked out this kickass tree stand that makes watering it a ton easier. So anyway, Anthony trimmed it up a bit and he and Pat brought it inside. I added the tree skirt, and with the lights on the windows it looked great!

We put white and colored lights on Monday night, as well as ornaments. I was very excited because I had found the ornaments my Mema had saved from my very first Christmas tree in Columbia, so we put those on first, followed by the ones I picked up from Louisville....apples with names, the small pillows, a few of my favorites, some I made when I was little, the turtle dove, the two little books...and a car with Santa driving for Anthony. We topped it off with the star, and I put the Velveteen Rabbit and my Christmas bear underneath. It looks beautiful, and the pine fragrance is amazing! Check out the pics on MySpace!

I know that some aspects of this season may be difficult this year, but I am so happy to be spending it with someone I love and care about, and that loves me and cares about me too!! Anthony and I had a great time doing this together, and I'm sure it will be just one memory in a list of tons that we will have a lifetime!

Tis all for now,
K
