[btvs20in20] Round 7 - Buffy Summers 4x01 "The Freshman"
I recently started a rewatch of Buffy and started with season four and found so much pleasure in "The Freshman" that I ended up taking screencaps as I watched and figured might as well

* The cat set also rolls over in a bit of a rainbow - going from the dark red of Buffy's shirt to the orange and finally into a bright yellow; so it works as a general rise, a rainbow, and the roll-over described above. I also really love how the set abruptly moves from left to right in the last icon.
** I had originally intended all of the "Artist's Choice" to be all Buffy looking-down, but this scene when Buffy goes to see Giles and he turns her away I felt was more poignant and so beautiful - I wanted to capture each stage of this moment, looking up at him with so much hope, looking into nothing, looking slightly down, and then looking fully down - fully rejected by the man she considers a father figure. I opted for floral overlays on all of these images to emphasize her innocence. This set stands in direct thematic contrast to the roll-over category, which shows Buffy slowly rising up back into herself. As such, the two sets are a pair - one of her fall and one of her rise. The soft pinks of the florals are meant to stand in contrast to the harsh reds, oranges, and yellows present in the other set.
** these are my very faves - I wish there had been a place for them, but there just wasn't.
