July 4th and Firework Safety

Firework Safety

Spent tonight and last night at TJ's house with some friends. Nobody died, sadly, but we still managed to make some of the girls freak out with our stupidity. $300 can buy a lot of stupid moments.

My brother almost earned himself a Darwin Award by looking at the fuse on his Roman Candle when it went out. Never fired, but everyone was telling him it was a dumb thing to do.
I got yelled at because I didn't toss the black cats far enough away(though I didn't mean for them to land so close).
David had his girlfriend yelling at him for holding onto his bottle rockets while lighting them, then throwing them just as they ignited.

At that was just last night. Tonight we managed to up the stupidity level.

We got bored with seeing things explode in the air, so we started covering the tubes with bricks.
We also started lighting stuff upside down. We discovered that the parachutes would blow the bottom off and still launch into the air.
We would light half a dozen of the big bottle rockets at a time with Ground Flowers.
David put 24 of the big bottle rockets upside down in the remains of his $35 explosive(which was a massive bust, as it sucked). He lit them with a Ground Flower. Only a few lit at first, but they continued to smolder and ignite for the next 15 minutes. Then I put in another Ground Flower and managed to get the rest to go off.
Our finale was another 24 of the big bottle rockets, this time facing the right way, again lit with a Ground Flower. This was our stupidest move, as they didn't all go up. Quite a few went sideways. Luckily, none came at us, as we still had a few bags of stuff left that we were standing by. But it almost time for the professional display at the park, so we called it a night.

Last night wasn't the best of nights to shoot stuff off. It rained on and off for a bit before we got outside to start shooting stuff off. Then it started raining on us. Yay. We stayed out for a couple of hours in the rain. People drank. Stuff blew up. A fun time was had by all.

In other news, I can't believe it's only 11 days until HBP is out. It seems like only two years ago that OotP was out...
