Au Revoir 2011

Dec 30, 2011 16:00

If you look at my LJ it’s like 2011 never happened to me, which is sad because I have a terrible memory and love rereading old posts. Not to mention that I miss fandom and all of you, despite all the name changes that are seriously confusing me! In one of my last posts of 2010 I said that it was the worst year of my life, that was mostly because I was floundering and unemployed for most of it and although I am still pretty unsure and directionless now, I can unequivocally say that 2011 has been a much better year. Full time employment, even if far from being my dream job, has been good for me. Apart from that not that much has changed, still living at home, still single, still not actively trying hard to find fulfilling employment. But I am feeling hopeful for what 2012 will bring.

Fandom wise, though I haven’t been writing apart from random Glee snippets when I am really bored at work, I have been reading some fic. Mostly The Social Network (mostly RPF) because lauds kept sending me links. Evil enabler that she is (this morning she asked “Hypothetically… if I were to get a standing ticket for Richard II at the Donmar, would you be interested?”, “Sure,” I said. Turns out, there is nothing hypothetical about it. So I am off to the theatre shortly…) I have also read a bunch of Glee fic, everything with Santana I could find and nothing with Blaine, because shortly after making this post last year, I have realised that I can’t stand his face. What else? Though the figure skating fandom disintegrated, I keep up with Johnny Weir’s life (apparently he is getting married tomorrow!? Good for him, though it’s a bit quick…) and more surprisingly Figure Skating the sport, which I love! Also X-Men, which I loved so much, I actually saw it twice (and I never do that for anything that isn’t Harry Potter) and read all the modern day AUs I could find. I am sure there is more, though I can’t think of… oh there was a short Harry/Draco nostalgia relapse.

TV wise: only new shows I’ve started this season have been Pan Am (it’s bad, but so shiny!) Ringer (it’s bad, but I still want to know what happens, plus SMG!) American Horror Story, (sort of…I really need to catch up on the last 5ish episodes). Oh and I adored The Hour! (OT3!) enjoyed Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey, and really liked most of Skins Gen 3 (Frankie<3)

I guess the problem is that I don’t have a fandom I am super into at the moment, which is probably why I’ve been gone from LJ for this long, I do have a DW, but I don’t know how to make it pretty, and am too lazy to figure it out and move, so I am staying here. If you are leaving LJ and not crossposting, (um but still reading your flist, otherwise you’d never see this…) please tell me!

End of Year Meme

Full time employment + a steady income! :D Travelled on my own!

I don’t think I had any official ones, at least not as far as I remember, but this year I will be making some.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

January 24th First day of work.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Um. Job aside, I am really happy with the amount of ~cultural~ things that I got to do, like I went to the theatre lots, saw a ton of

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Nothing serious, though I had an ear infection during my US trip, so many flights and so much pain.

Trying is always worth it.

I am really sad I missed the Yuletide sign ups this year, was somewhere in the US without a computer at the time, though it means I can enjoy the collection without the stress. Had a supremely lazy Christmas with lots of time for reading, which means a ton of recs are forthcoming. Although, is it me, or does Yuletide feel a lot smaller this year? It doesn’t look like many of you have participated/are reading?

rl, meme, holiday: new year
