Woes and links

Um. Haven't posted in a week, though I've been around for most of it. I don't know, I had such a perfect long weekend seeing three very different groups of friends, drinking too much gin, spending too much money and eating too much food and have been feeling a little down since then. It is always hard coming home, after a few days of fun, where I can almost imagine that I am living in London, that I have a life, and that I am not a failure, (even though I hate meeting new people, or indeed old people that I haven't seen a while, as inevitably the first question is 'what are you doing now?'... furthermore, all my friends just happen to be wildly successful and a large number are looking to buy places right now, which is freaking me out a lot), but this time my return was met with a £35 parking ticket, which I very much did not expect and seriously cannot afford, which means no fun time activities this weekend at all. Well, at least none that involve leaving Milton Keynes. :( :(  I am not happy about this.

Another reason I haven't posted in a while is that I am also not feeling greatly excited by any fandom right now, unless it includes looking at pretty pictures. (perhaps that is why I've been wasting so much time on tumblr) Haven't written anything in so long and have only read very little. This may be a good thing, as I should spend more time trying to sort out my life, but I really miss the rush of excitement and glee (though not the tv show, various spoilers have really started to worry me).

Wow, Way to not make a happy post. Sorry about that, I will try to contain my woes. Here are some things that have made things less shit lately.

- Matt Bomer in glasses. I really do adore him and his out of this world beauty. Have had this tab open for a week, so I can look at it from time to time. Bonus Matt Bomer at a charity event. Th fact that these are candid pics is blowing my mind. (This one is currently my desktop background)

-The return of the fughat! (well...not the original, but still!) Also, this post is so much fun, even seeing a couple of new pictures, which I didn't think possible!

-Thanks to aurora_84 's enticing ways, have been dipping my toes into skating slash, but how could I resist, when everything is so shiny.

-Southland is so excellent, it is hard for me to talk about it. The last few minutes of the last episode were made of love. It is such a tough show, and so many real and horrible things happen all the time, and people make mistakes and yet it makes me so happy.

-Gossip Girl was less good. A lot less good. I loved all the scenes of the non judging Breakfast Club, but could have done without the contrived drama surrounding everyone else. And if Dan's arms continue to grow at such an alarming rate, he is surely going to explode. On the bright side, Jenny looked almost normal (too bad, about her behaviour).

-I love Lady Gaga's Telephone video SO MUCH. I am not a Gaga fan, am pretty indifferent to her music or her performance art clothing, but am beginning to think that perhaps I was wrong. This is a great article about her, this is video-verse Gaga/Beyonce fic (short and perfect, though it says a lot about me that a innocent line claiming that Burberry is so 2003 totally throws me, because in fact Burberry is cool again. Um.) More articles.

Off to eat cheesecake and watch the Skins finale, hope it doesn't suck, though after last episode, nothing can make things better.

tv: gossip girl, i guess i'll need a figureskating tag, tv: southland, life, tv: white collar
