More tv, as I hide from reality

Randomly, last night Channel 4 showed the pilot of True Blood, followed by the first part of Generation Kill, both of which I know a lot of you love, so I of course had to see what the fuss is about.

My first impressions of True Blood are rather mixed. I don't know if I liked it, it wasn't what I expected, it is at once, a WTF moment, after a WTF moment, and so terribly cliched, it must be on purpose, but I don't find any of the characters particularly likeable. I know it has been one episode, but I am not sure if I want to watch any more. Those of you that are fans, did you like it straight away? Does it get better?

Generation Kill, on the other hand, I was a lot more prepared for, as from the number of pictures I have seen, I felt like I knew the characters, and I am already very interested in the setting, and I liked it a lot. Will definitely watch it as it's aired. It is fascinating watching a close to true account of the invasion, the politics of which I have studied so much, because it's rare that I think about the war in terms of the reality facing the actual soldiers involved. I think the characters are interesting, it made me laugh, as well as angry, and fine, everyone in it, is really, very hot. Can't wait till next week.
