Creative Commons on my P2P

It isn't a glamorous list I'm looking at right now, but it's certainly an interesting one.  www.legaltorrents.com/  facilitates the sharing of media by torrent of any content that individuals (or organisations or groups) have made and wish to share with people under Creative Commons or other more open licenses.  It's not a huge community yet, but it's certainly worth a bit of a browse.  There's a few ebooks, some documentaries and indie films that are worth it.

At the very least, I love that the site is never going to draw as many seeds and leeches as others with, ahem copyright content broader scope.  It's never going to have many false or viral listings, and it's damned fast because the people seeding care passionately about reaching more minds and getting more exposure.

In the political climate of my country, which seems to be leaning towards vilification (and restriction) of software and hardware rather than what individuals do with their technology, I'm all for anything that stands up and states clearly and logically "we can behave perfectly reasonably within this framework."

Next, we will have all knives held in a bucket at the local police centre, to be screened for sharp edges.  I've heard that sharp edged knives can be used to harm a child, you see, and we wouldn't want any of those entering Australian homes.  Might start giving people ideas, you know.  Adults just can't be trusted with those sharp knives!  And anyway, some of us find sharp knives offensive.

Ah, sorry, sorry, excuse me there.  Anyway, for a number of reasons, I am enjoying Legaltorrents greatly.  One of them is the free CC ebooks, which I'm going to have a good look over tonight :)
