character; Ultimecia

series; Final Fantasy VIII

age; A lady never tells

class; Black Mage

special abilities; Aside from her fairly devastating basic magical skills that lean more towards the sheer apocalyptic than elemental, she also has the ability to manipulate time in various ways, including stopping it and seeming to travel through it. Like other very powerful Sorceresses, she also possesses the means to teleport herself from place to place in a way that very much resembles phasing. At home she can destroy stocks of magic from straight out of an opponent's mind, but not being able to do that here will piss her off. She's also lacking Griever, therefore cannot junction herself to him to increase her power.

Hell, let's just make a list!

-Manipulation of time - stopping it, slowing it down, or speeding it up for short periods, though NOT compressing it.
-Some measure of mental manipulation - though she can't do it against a person's will in this new world - she/I need permission and an agreement to let her in. Already established with Seifer.
-Possession of another human being - though subject to agreement of above, needs permission first to be manipulated, then I need permission for her to possess. She definitely won't bother with permission for that ICly once she has a mental foothold.
-Ability to change the status of an object away from solid, allowing her and others to pass through walls and the like.
-Personal phasing for short distances.
-Ability to send her mind through time for a very limited period. She needs the Junction Machine Ellone to do anything across long stretches of time, but one or two days is usually enough to cause some sort of chaos. Simultaneously, she can separate her conscious from her body to take over another's, but this leaves her body vulnerable to attack while her mind is elsewhere. Only to be used when she's absolutely secure.
-Mental connection with her Knight. She has a form of telepathy specific to Seifer and only Seifer, where she can essentially shove feelings and orders and impressions into his head. She does not need permission for this (though I've gotten the okay from the mun) and uses it to manipulate him to her whim, or punish him if she thinks he needs it.

history; I had this whole long poetic thing typed out then I realized it was getting too long. So you get a wiki link and a summation.

Basically, it's the same theory that's presented in the final two paragraphs of the Appearance and Personality section. Telling the story of Squall and Co's defeat of Ultimecia gradually turned people away from trusting Sorceresses - or at least letting them live and let live. By the time she was born, many, many years into the future, Sorceresses were persecuted for what they were, hunted and tormented. She probably also absorbed powers from other Sorceresses as they were killed, which may or may not have made her mentally unstable. She probably also didn't have a Knight, which could have had an adverse reaction on her as well seeing how they seem to be really important in the current day, though that's more fandom speculation than anything. Her original name was not Ultimecia, though, it was Kerina - she took the name from the story, to make herself more feared and protected. Her attempt to bring about Time Compression was an attempt to prevent herself from dying, once she realized that the story actually revolved around her, but it did/will fail. She's the result of a closed, self-fulfilling time loop, with her and the SeeDs creating each other and bringing each other to the points they came to unknowingly and unwillingly, her fate already determined.

personality; While the Sorceress didn't start this conflict (amazingly enough), at some point she lost any hope for a peaceful resolution and began fighting back. Unfortunately, that was probably when she was still young. She is not an innocent - the deaths of hundreds are on her hands, if not thousands. She will fight back against an invading force, with severe prejudice and little regard to surrounding casualties. The people of her time hate and fear her for good reason, even if that reason only became true because they made it so.

She has a slight line of insanity in her thoughts, but more importantly she isn't stupid, and she only becomes overconfident after a long string of victories. She possesses Edea for years before anyone catches on, though her grip is so weak at first that she can't prevent the formation of the SeeD Gardens, showing her patience. However, that means that when she does get to act out, the results are bigger and more powerful and destructive than they would be otherwise. With only a mental connection to the time of Squall and company, she still manages to nearly induce a world war.

Ultimecia is very good at manipulating others, tempting or taunting depending on the case, though the talent probably doesn't come to light much in her own time since everyone has ample proof of her nature. In the present, though, Seifer is the obvious target, though also Vinzer Deling could count, seeing as he agrees to take her on as Ambassador even after his country was invaded and nearly destroyed by a Sorceress. True, he was probably planning to use her for his own ends, but she had plans for him herself - and hers win. There's a slight measure of sadism there, as she enjoys manipulating people to turn against each other and those they care about.

She is very, very bitter, and that's what drives her actions for most of her life. Her treatment at the hands of SeeD and the world wasn't gentle, warping her from whatever she might have been into a creature that sought only revenge, destruction, and triumph over her enemies. Her attempt to achieve Time Compression was an attempt to finally live in a world where nobody was trying to kill her.

In a new world, without Griever, and the legendary SeeDs already an established presence, she'll fall back on the trait she used to live until she gained so much power in the first place: keeping quiet, keeping out of sight, and keeping an eye out for an opening she can exploit. She might be less powerful here, but she'll still not settle for anything less than being on top, even though it will take time to get there.

point in canon; As Squall and Co arrive at her castle

place of arrival; Shumi Village

starter task; ahahahahaha NO

first person sample; Time will not stop for anyone, not even here, in this new place. The events of a world will katch you, ambush you unaware even as you revel in your viktories. Take note of this, for no one shall escape its march of years.

And those of you that kall yourselves SeeDs? Mmm... we shall see what bekomes of you, in this new world. There is much for you to answer for - much pain and torture that must be returned. And so very little you kan do about it.

Find me if you kan, withered SeeDs. The pages of history will be altered forever.

third person sample; A frown crossed her face as she turned the device off - so, they were here. The Legendary SeeDs, those destined to invade her castle and attempt to kill her. Were she still in her own world, this would be of little concern, but here? With no pets to act as her guardians, not having discovered the full extent of her powers in this new place, she would be an easy target.

Unless.

A long fingernail tapped her lips as she frowned, considering her options. Be obvious - and be tracked down. Pretend to peace, and still be harassed. Claim insanity, and likely be locked up somewhere. There was her knight to exploit, and yet if she made herself known through him, the results would be the same.

"Kurse them," she whispered to the emptiness around her. The cave was hardly her ideal habitation, but until she had a better plan, it was a necessary evil. As would be her next step, as she rose fluidly to her feet, crossing to the back of the cave and the small pool there. She hated this skulking about, having to hide and conceal her true identity - their ruler, their queen, their goddess. She alone would hold life and death over this world, just as she'd done before. But the sudden change meant rewriting all of her plans.

Starting from scratch.

She knelt at the pool, kept from freezing with a low-level fire spell, pulled the gloves from her hands, and began to wash the makeup from her face.

Also, her permissions post is here.
