6. el-p - I'll Sleep When You're Dead

Genre: Hip Hop
Subliminal and DAM's additions to the list this year might be tighter, but el-p makes up for the scatterbrained feeling of the album with pure gusto, hardcoreness, and irony. I'm serious about all three of those: somehow the line "And now, the dramatic intro machine..." at the start of the track, as well as collaborations with Trent Reznor (ever wondered what NIN would sound like if it was Rap? Listen to this), and the hardest rapping I have ever heard (not quite the punch in the face that Dre is, more like a vehicular mounted assault rifle - a vertitable verbal assault) end up on the same album. Also, some of the tracks are about a dystopian far-future. Interested yet?
