Went to Saki's place today. She'd managed to acquire a copy of the old 1978 Swan Lake anime. Heh heh, the makers of Princess Tutu must have watched this movie -- not only does Prince Siegfried look fairly girly, he even stabs himself through the heart with a sword (at which point the bad guys are inexplicably magically defeated)! Rothbart was not a particularly menacing villain, though; you just kinda felt sorry for him. The real villain was Odile! >:D
Speaking of which... IT SHALL BE MINE, OH YES. Though that blurb sounds like it was written by someone in the Bizarre Non-Sequitur Blurb Writer's Union. @__@ I don't think I'm going to be able to wait until the next time we go to the States in order to get my Tutu fix; I'm going to see if C.A.T.S. can do special orders on R1 anime DVDs. I was able to find a few sound clips from ADV's english dub here (a couple of posts down, and another one here) at the AnimeonDVD.com forums, and...
OH MY GOD MYTHO'S VOICE IS DEEPER THAN FAKIR'S that is just wrong. XD Rue sounds pretty darn good. Ahiru's voice I am definitely not crazy about -- she sounds like an aging children's show host trying to sound like a four-year-old. Still, maybe she'll grow on me. All of the commercial dubs I like seem to have one voice in particular who I hate at first but who seem to get better, like Arima in the KareKano dub and Yuki in the Fruits Basket dub.
THIS, TOO, SHALL BE MINE. It can sit in a grand and useless fashion on my bookshelf, right next to my Absolute Edition of Vol. 1. That cover image is priceless. Nemo appears to be trying to summon the awesome powers of his psionically-activated turban laser. Quatermain looks like he planned to fight the Martians with a small stick, but is rapidly thinking better of it. Hyde looks like he's breaking out in song. Mina is the only one going "Fuck this, I'm outta here!" Oh, and Griffin is looking at somebody's ass. It's either Mina's or Nemo's. Who can tell, with those shifty invisible eyes?
