First of all, yep, I know I should be translating Anli Pollicino's
tweets, but I am tired and I have a never ending homework at English, so
I will be late with the crappy translations, and secondly the reason
why I named this post "survivor" is because, really now, a GACKT concert
means a survivor contest, why?? you will see later.
ATTENTION!!! In case you didn't realized it until now, which I seriously doubt,
this post is a report about GACKT's concert in Budapest, BUT if you
expect me to be talking only about GACKT, I will have to tell you that
my eyes were most of the time on Chacha, so this post will probably be
60% about Chacha, 30% about the others members and only 10% about GACKT.
Sorry, but I am tired of listening so many about him and seeing him
everywhere on the internet, don't get me wrong I like GACKT, but when it
comes to the other members you hardly ever see any posts about them and
in this report I want to show you how truthfully awesome they are.
(≡^∇^≡)
So, this year there is no bullshit about how hard I tried to get to the concert, because seriously I
didn't. Well, I wanted to go to the firsts 2 concerts in France, but I
couldn't get a part time job, so I gave up on those two, anyway I was
going to see GACKT in Budapest and any "but" was out of discussion.
Of
course, staying 5 days in Budapest, there was plenty of time to go
sightseeing, and to go to the ZOO. You might be wondering why I am
mentioning the ZOO, and the reason is this:
hahaha...sorry, but when I took this photo I couldn't help thinking about Jon.
Bla bla bla, I should keep it short, even though I know it's impossible.
Anyway, moving to the day of the concert. I woke up early in the morning, well not as early as I wanted to, cause my ears just refused to hear the alarm clock, we ate breakfast and as we stepped out of the hotel, little by little it started raining. The hotel wasn't far from the venue, but we went to buy umbrellas and we arrived half hour late at the venue. It was about 10 a.m. or something like that. There, a girl came to us and gave us numbers, I think you can guess why, outside was raining and everyone stood under a bridge, so the numbers were supposed to give us an order where we should stay when the row was going to be made, well it turned put to be pretty useless in the end, but I'll talk about that a little later. Oh, I forgot to tell with who I was in Budapest, right? I was with my big bro and my friend Simo, the same as last year, with the difference that, we meet with the other friend Dee and her cousin 2 hours before the concert. So, while me and Simo stood there laughing at one thing and another, my brother went to buy us some food., he was supposed to go, buy some food, return and while we would be taking showers, he would stay there for us. While my bro was somewhere buying food, we wrote a message in Japanese for GACKT& the other members, something like "thank you for coming in Europe again" well pretty lame, I know, but we aren't the "KYAAAA GACKT I LOVE YOU!" type, so yep that was the message. After that we went to talk about you know, us taking a shower, if there was a problem with that, after all under that bridge the air was pretty bad (cough) , if you can understand what I want to say, just like last year in London, as you were moving from the end of the row to the begging the air was more and more...let's say unbreathable. The funny thing this year, was that when we said that we want to take a shower and then come back to the venue, we received a look that was like saying "take a shower?! are you trying to defy God?" The answer is obvious no, I am just a human being that is taking a shower, because I know how the concert was last year, squeezed by the crowd, infernally hot, and wet from hair to the waist and as a human being my first obligation is to be clean and smell nice. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to offend anyone, but well...
Skip, skip, skip, we went took a shower and return. Off topic now, but I love Simo's perfume, which one were you saying you used? (laugh) About 3 p.m. we returned at the venue, and the crowd didn't changed to much. Oh, I forgot to talk about the red buses, do they matter?? We didn't saw anyone getting off the bus because of the location, but I think they got off the buses in the front, since there was another entrance. For an hour or so, we talked to some girls, that went to the concert in Munich too. They were pretty fun and we talk about Chacha's condoms thrown in Munich, about GACKT and Jon's gay dance, about U:zo's amazing bass and so the time flew faster.
When our friends and my brother come from the hotel, we talked and laugh about some fan getting in the mood (he/she was kind of smelling like alcohol) and after we saw many people who had and didn't had numbers sitting in row, we moved into the row too. And then the hell began... "hey if you don't have a number please move in the back",
some girl:"do you have numbers?"
me:"I took a shower and the number on my hand has been erased"
the some girl: "then show me the number?"
my mind: are you crazy or plain stupid? I took a shower and the number was almost erased, me: "sorry, but I took a shower and the number that was supposed to be written on my hand was erased", but she wouldn't shut, until the girl with the numbers came and told her that she had gave us numbers. Well... and after that was a number, number bullpoop. Anyway, from where were we staying to the concert hall we had to pass though a gate and then walk run to the concert hall, were they were checking your tickets, so as I said the numbers were useless.
Moving to the concert hall, my brother was in chargeof getting the merchandise, and me and Simo caught a place in the 3rd row, from where we could see the whole stage. We were so happy and so excited. ^^ From where I was standing I could easily see Chacha, and that was good enough for me. While we kept waiting for everyone to get their cute little butts on stage, well of course they were super late, and I think the concert started somewhere between 8:30 and 9 o'clock. Oh.... and now the funny part about waiting, were the fans. They screamed "Oh my GACKT!", which made me laugh, "Kami-sama", and we were wondering whether they are screaming at GACKT, or at his old dead friend Kami-san, after that they started scream "Oide", which basically means "come (here/ to me)", but as far as I know (I'm learning Japanese for 3 years now, but all I can be proud of, is me embarrassing myself >.>) is very impolite and probably kind of rude, correct me if I am wrong, but I only heard people saying "oide" to dogs or cats, not GACKT. Anyway, I did tell you that people were like "fighting" for being in front, right? Everyone was screaming only "GACKT", so I decided that when people would calm down I'll scream "JON", and when I did, the girls in front of me were like "who is Jon?". Now it's my part were I say "Oh my GOD!", after that they start talking about who Jon is, I didn't get the language, but I supposed, from the look on their faces and the tone of their voices, that they said something about Jon being an American, and what is he doing with G, and after that they gave me a cold look and start screaming "GACKT". Of course me being a bitch sometimes is an old story, so I screamed again with a friend "JON", and then "Chacha", and because the cherry on the cake was still mising, some girl, I think, asked who Chacha was. Really now, WHAT THE FUCK! Chacha and YOU have been with GACKT for so many years now, and those girls were like "I want in front, I want in front, but I know only GACKT and I want to sit like I do when I go the a classic concert" no shit, stop dreaming. Last year was the same with people complaining about other people pushing, jumping, or head banging, would you please wake up. If you don't want to be pushed you should stay in the back, there is enough space over there, "Oh. but I want to see GACKT closer" then shut up and stop complaining. In the front, people will always push, a rock concert where you don't jump or do a little head banging is not really a rock concert, in my opinion. There was a girl I meet before the concert, with whom I screamed twice or so "JON", she was saying that she is surprised about people pushing, but she didn't complain, she was just like me "no matter what happens I won't back off", I wanted to see everyone's face closer, but I knew what the consequences were, well I'll make my main points at the end. Anyway, some other girls started screaming every members name, but they still forgot about Takumi, and I was glad that I screamed his name and then same same girl who asked about Chacha, asked again who U:zo was... oh, a never ending stupid story. (laugh)
Chapter III, the concert started, well before that GACKT's secretary gave us the same speech us last year. Yep, boring, but it was funny just as it was the last year. After that finally Shinya followed by Takumi, U:zo, Chacha, YOU, Jon and GACKT came on the stage. At first no one was looking at the fans, as they entered the stage one by one, they turned their backs on us, and when the music started, they turned, Chacha, Takumi, U:zo, You, Jon and the last one GACKT and the first song began. At the end of the first song, I was already in the second row. The first song could barely be heard, so thanks to the show they gave on the stage, because other than that until the 4th or 5th song Jon and GACKT voices could barely be heard. My eyes were almost always on Chacha and his pirouettes, he was so, but so cute, the same beautiful hair as last year, always getting close to the audience saying "Come on" just like a "big sister" taking care of the atmosphere, encouraging us to scream, when was the case of course, and sing together with them. Even though the safety fence was pretty far from the stage, he and the other members came as close as they could. I saw Takumi jumping so many times, he was full of energy and his guitar skills were amazing, Chacha's too, to see them playing the guitar was enough to bless the fact that you were able to go to the concert. Takumi and U:zo always came in front, you could easily see them. I heard many fans saying that they always stood back during the concerts, I was kind of sad at the beginning, but seeing them all over the stage made me really happy. U:zo, I can't really remember at what song, but he did a mini solo bass, that was just cool. I think it was somewhere in the middle of Speed Master that he stepped alone an the "Yellow Friend Chickenz" platform and started to move his fingers, gently, but with a cool rock image, on the bass strings. He locked like a real rock star, not like a goth loli in a dress looking like a girl, as you are you used to see in the VK bands, he totally rocked the hell out of us.
I am not really into You, but because my friend, Simo, likes him a lot I thought I should look a little at him too, and when I did, I just couldn't get my eyes off him for like 3 minutes or so. He was so tall and playing the guitar so beautifully that I could just mumble "amazing". Probably the first thing that caught my eye was his hair style, the black hair, having the some hair style GACKT did last year on the YFC concert in Japan, just that You's hair, I think, it was a littler shorter, but this hair style totally suits him, without the panda eyes, a beautiful black make-up, rocking on. And seeing him not being skinny, but being a little fatty, don't image a big belly or something like, he was just normal, I was happy thinking "Oh he is eating well lately", he was so cute. Well, You wasn't jumping like Takumi, didn't gave that cool air that U:zo did and he was shyer than Chacha and he didn't do pirouettes, but if you looked at him, it was almost like he was saying "I am so happy to be playing on the stage, it's fun, everyone let's enjoy every moment together, I am here to play for you!", when I looked at him it was impossible not to feel happy and simply smile, screaming once in a while between songs "YOU!!". Now something about Jon, no matter how much I think about something better to say, the only thing that pops in my mind is that GACKT transformed him too into a gay lord (laugh). Seeing pretty VK "girls" with their dresses moving around the stage or GACKT in Vanilla is one thing, but seeing an American with black make-up and boots dancing like a gay lord, synchronizing with GACKT's moves on "I want you" song is something that you don't see at any concert and it's a one lifetime experience, trust me on this one. His voice and GACKT's voice were a match made in heaven and they were moving on the platform like their were one, always together entertaining the fans. I have to say that Jon's six/eight pack was worth looking at and sorry to say this G, but Jon's body looked more delicious then yours, not to say that because he jumped a lot the pants keep dropping off till we got to see his cute little butt. He was obvious trying to get closer to the fans, he seemed so excited about everything, like a little puppy who moves his tail, so cute. GACKT was more serious, trying to keep his cool, but somehow always trying to get all the attention. His body looked more skinny than last year, I think that last year he had more muscles, but the only thing that I just can't get used to is his hair style, sorry. >.>
So... retuning to Chacha, because about him I talked so little and I have so many things to say about him. There was a funny thing; because the girl in my right was always with the elbow in my ribs, I somehow turned a little to the right and I was seeing Chacha better, and with GACKT just in front of me, half naked, on the platform, my eyes were still on Chacha, and because is was between songs I screamed as loud as I could "CHACHA!!!!!", I don't know if there were many fans screaming Chacha, or what happened, but GACKT, suddenly stepped off the platform getting closer to us and looking carefully at us just like saying "hey what the fuck, I am just right here, look at my beauty and scream my name!", but well I couldn't care less. Actually at first I was just surprised about his reaction and I thought that it was just me, but then my friend told me that she was surprised by GACKT suddenly decision of getting off the YFCz platform. Not mentioning that at some point I kind of screamed at GACKT "bitch!" It was not my fault, it's just that his dance was so...you know... and me being in the second row and G being right in front of me, is there any chance that he didn't hear a thing, and throw that usual cold look with a smirk on his face just because? Well I heard that, usually they don't see the firsts rows, which I seriously doubt, but maybe it's true? Back to Chacha and his beautiful long, blond hair, that really suits him and his pirouettes, I stop counting at 10. There was a moment when he and Takumi made pirouettes, they were pretty cool, and you could simply see on their faces that they enjoyed themselves. Chacha was always looking at us and made us signs to scream or to let GACKT talk or to raise our hands, and for a 50 years old man, he looks freaking great, and his body is not so skinny, well it is, but his body is pretty worked out, I guess G really is a demon, not just a narcissistic gay lord. (laugh)
Surprisingly I didn't see people fainting, even though I heared there were a girl or two fainting. It was hot indeed, but I wasn't too bothered by that fact, maybe I've got used to, just that my neck muscles hurt for two days and my throat hurt a little from screaming, but that was it.
The song "All for love" was awesome, it moved me, not to tears, like the girls somewhere near me, but well. They were throwing water as always, which was totally refreshing, and feeling the music I couldn't help it but to move, dance, jump, head bang, I was feeling so good. Looking at Chacha, screaming his name with every occasion I had, hoping maybe, just maybe I'll catch his guitar pick, but obviously I wasn't lucky enough. >.> At some point there was a sweet girl somewhere near me, and we suddenly raise our hands in the air together, laughing, enjoying the concert together, doing head banging or jumping, without even knowing her name or anything about her, the only thing that we had in common was the concert that we both enjoy as much as we could, and suddenly without looking at each other we started screaming Chacha's name at once. So cool!!! I don't know if she understood English, but we were singing Vanilla from the bottom of our hearts like nothing else would matter. But as always, a miracle never lasts forever, the show came to an end, but at the encore, I did it, I reached first row!!! Yay!!! Hiphip horay! and for a song I could see everything, absolutely everything, Takumi's awesome guitar skills, U:zo's amazing rock image, You being the cutest, Shinya being an amazing chubby drummer, Jon being a hot American rock star with the moves of a gay lord, Chacha's cute smile and his guitar with the Egyptian eye on it, still looking kindly at us, and GACKT's cute laugh promising that he would return. That laugh that is killing you because you can only listen to it on the internet, I could see it now in front of my eyes. Everything can't be properly described just with words, you have to feel it to understand it.
The concert, was more then just a simply concert, it was a show worth seeing, something that you cannot fully understand if you are not there, feeling it. After the concert, when I got home, I watch the DVD of YFC in Europe with my brother and I got all excited, but even though I was at the concert in London and seeing the crowd brought back memories is just not the same feeling as when you are right there feeling it, looking at them, screaming as loud as you can their names, jumping, feeling the music, moving your body, sing together with them, is just not the same and a simple report can't express what I truly felt when I was there, everything was worth it, even the 12 hours I had to spent on train just sitting. I hate depending on others, my brother, my parents because most of the time they just don't understand me and it sucks to ask them to give me money and everything that is why I want to be independent, that is why I want to get the scholarship for a university in Japan. Yeah, I know that being far form everyone and leaving everything behind is never easy and I know that being an adult most of the time it crappy, but I just don't like depeding on others. Music has always been part of my life, I simply love music, is just something that I am used to, something that would be hard to give up on, so this concert it was for me as a burst of energy. I know, maybe I'm sounding silly, but I don't care, that concert recharged my batteries for my last year of high school, a year full of exams and decisions that can easily change my life, it is scary, but inevitable.
In the end guess that GACKT is a person that you can't never get bored of. He is sometimes stupid, almost always talking bullshit, his "ladies stay delicious for us" and "I need a woman to sleep" and all that crap I find lame, and, I so don't care if he's fat, skinny or has nice muscles as Jon, he's not my prince charming or anything like that, for me he is just a talented musician that always reaches my heart with his music and no matter what might happen I love his music and that will never change. the new YFC rocks!!!
BIG PS:
Now because I get the feeling that some people don't know the meaning of being a fan. I don't want to be a smart ass or anything but come on, there are some things I just can't understand, like:
1. OK, I get you woke up in the morning just to go sit in the line to be the first and have your place ensured in the first row, it's totally crazy, but I can understand it. But I don't get why do you have to camp in front of the venue, because you know, you sweat and you know... don't you think that it's more important to be clean and stuff than being in the first row, not saying that you are bothering the people who sit beside you.
2. When you are going to a rock concert, why are you expecting to stay like at a classic concert?? A rock concert it's about jumping, maybe pushing (when it comes to GACKT be sure of that), head banging and stuff like that. If you don't want to be pushed or something like that, then there is plenty of space in the back. I can assure you that you can see the whole stage and stuff, but if you want to see everything closer, then stop complaining. Even in my freaking country at a jrock concert people go crazy, but they never complain about being pushed or something like that.
3. What is the point in waiting for them after the concert or to follow the red cars, I guess someone is misunderstanding something here nobody is f**king anybody, don't you think that outside the concert hall they are just human beings who have a life and have better things to do than hiding from crazy fans?
