A brief summary of what I have learned in Intro to Biology this semester. and yes, the professor really did say all these at some point this semester.
~Bacteria invented sex.
~We need to learn about DNA, not to make new discoveries, or because it is the basis of biology, but so we will be interesting people. We will have an interesting topic to talk about to our boyfriends and girlfriends, and people will like us. .....I shit you not.
~Type I Diabetes is not an autoimmune disease....oh yeah, fought him on that one. He still refused to say it was an autoimmune.
~Xylem and phloem of plants make for good Scrabble words...we get to get rid of the X. He felt this was important to tell us mid-lecture.
~DNA is selfish. This selfishness leads to conflict, which in turn leads to violence, aggression, and warfare.
