So. Ever since the passing of Socks, my wonderfully awesome kitty and best friend for 13 years, I've been trying to think of a memorial tattoo I could get for him.
I already know where I want to put it. Even though I always thought I'd get my first tattoos on the back of my neck and the inside of my wrist, I want this one to go on the back of my right shoulder. The reason behind this, is because whenever I held Socks, I held him so that his head was next to the right side of my face (looking backwards over my shoulder), and because he loved it when I held him, he'd knead his claws on my shoulder, leaving all kinds of miniature scratches all over the back of my right shoulder. I constantly had little marks there, and it makes me sad that they will never be there again.
I was trying to think of what I could possibly put there to represent Socks. I don't want a portrait of him (too much), I don't want kitty paws (way to little...and cutesy), and as cool as it would be, I've decided against scratch marks (scratch marks on one's back can be easily misinterpreted as sexual).
I've been lingering on the thought of Socks' eyes. I have a photo that I think could work as a reference, and could get his actual eyes tattooed right there, looking over my shoulder. I'm not sure how it would look though...I can't figure it out.
Recently I've begun to change some of my screen names and things to the Japanese word for Socks (obviously also in memory of Socks), which is kutsushita. It gave me the idea of possibly getting the kanji characters for kutsushita tattooed on me. But, even though that's Socks' name, I want it to be more personalized than just a Japanese character that most people other than me won't know the meaning of (and Japanese speakers that can read kanji, but even they will wonder "why the word socks?" XD).
Amado was brainstorming like, having a collar around the letters, or the eyes kind of behind the characters, or something...some way of tying more into the lettering.
Any of you creative folks feel like helping a girl out? I just need ideas...brainstorms...anything that pops into your heads just shoot it out, even if you think it's stupid, and even if you think I'll hate it, it could inspire another thought for something else...or maybe you'll have the perfect idea that's exactly what I want!!
I'm just getting locked up because I've been thinking about it for so long, that I keep cycling through my same couple ideas. I need fresh brains...
P.S.
Here's an example of the kanji for kutsushita:
http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/7356/kutsushitara1.jpg it's a shame it's so unbalanced, with 13 strokes in the first character and 3 in the second. It makes it kinda hard to work with. Of course, the kanji is not necessary in then design of the tattoo though, if you can think of something better.
