MAN, THE HOLIDAY SEASON HAS BEEN INTENSE. It's 2016, though, so isn't that exciting? I have a whole bunch of messages in my inbox and a lot of comments to reply to (INCLUDING PEOPLE WHO I HAVE TO GET TO WHO ADDED ME TO SEE MY SUBS--I'M SORRY I'M TAKING SO LONG!), so I'll try to get through those tonight after I finish all the work I have to do. BUT ( Read more... )

subbing woes, personal, kinki doesn't have to do this

It is also better to assume that IF there are ever new links, the mods won't tell you or anyone who left them a comment/PM/email. There are some comms where the mods never respond to any communication, but they put up new links when they are apprised of dead links.

Because some mods in some comms never respond to any communiques, if you are very hard up for the file, you should bookmark the relevant page in the comm containing the dead link and check that page regularly to see if there are new links. I personally check once a month. If the links are still dead after 1 and 1/2 years after you performed Steps 1 to 3, and there are no entries in the comm about dead links and re-ups after 1 and 1/2 years, it is safe to assume the comm is dead and there will never be re-ups and it is impossible to get the file you want. That has been my personal way of approaching the issue of dead links.

Oh my God, thank you! This is a ridiculously detailed account on how to do the whole system thing, and I'm really grateful for all the effort you gave for it. @___@ I'm always way too shy to send anyone PMs, but I'll give the mods a shot!

E-mailing someone sounds so intense, though. Have you really done that before?

Yes, I have emailed mods before and had emails bounce back to me because the email address is not valid anymore. That's how I know that a comm is definitely dead, the mods won't ever be back, and the files are lost forever more ( ... )
