It was probably their first official meeting outside of a music program. Of course, even with the music programs, she always remembered the older man greeting other people and sometimes, perhaps in the crowd of other idols, he would miss her completely. So even if they did exchange greetings during all those filmings when they both happened to be present, it really wasn’t their official meeting.
It was a surprisingly comfortable atmosphere as she walked into the recording studio. Originally, she would have expected it to be awkward, something similar to her filming of MBLAQ’s Idol Army. Of course, those boys were sweet too but still, it was one of her first variety programs so maybe that was why too. He greeted her with a kind, bright smile and she smiled shyly back before they were handed the lyrics to look over.
They listened to the managers as they talked about the song and during that, she snuck a glance at the tall male next to her. Wow. He was a lot taller than she remembered. Or maybe she was just shorter than she thought. He also seemed to give off a slight goofy feel, one not unlike the MBLAQ boys, only more controlled. A strange feel from a ballad singer but it was a good sort of feel. It made everything fun. And he wasn’t hard to look at. Rather handsome really. And Lee Ji-Eun smiled to herself.
She liked it.

He heard of her from a lot of people, people who’ve previously collaborated with her and people whose songs have been acoustically covered by her. So he had some form of an idea in his head of how she was going to be. Cute, shy, and talented. Somewhere in his mind, he remembered meeting the petite singer, even if it was just for a moment during backstage for Music Bank, Music Core, Inkigayo, or something similar. After a moment of silent pondering in the recording studio, he had arrived earlier than expected; he remembered a performance with SHINee’s Key and B2ST’s Yoseb.
Yeah. He remembered her. She was a cute little thing. The door opened and he looked up, smiling as she walked in. She smiled shyly back at him and he ignored that odd jump/thump combo his chest gave him. She really was cute. When they were given the lyrics, he pretty much stood next to her, reading over her shoulder and he wondered if she was this short the first time they met. Or maybe he was just way too tall.
He was probably too tall. If anything, he was similar to Ok Taecyeon. The two of them were much too tall. It made him think of the time they were learning the Abracadabra choreography and they were squatting-slash-sitting and they were still pretty much 160 cm tall…still.
But as he observed her standing next to him, focused on the lyrics, Im Seulong suddenly didn’t mind being tall.

There was no doubt that the moment the two of them started recording that it was almost magical. Her higher pitched voice matched well with his and when they harmonized it was a lovely sound. And even when they made mistakes, it was just a soft laugh or a light pat to the shoulder and a kind, “Let’s do that again right?”
By the end, completely forgetting that there were cameras, the two laughed heartily, much like old friends meeting again or at a joke that only they understood was shared between them. She lightly slapped his arm and he ruffled her hair fondly.

Lee Ji-Eun would admit later to some of her close friends and same aged idols that Im Seulong’s voice had a wonderful soothing quality, one that made her feel all warm and fuzzy. There was no wonder why he was a ballad singer. F(x)’s Luna would laugh softly and Sulli and Krystal were this close to calling their idol unnies to set something up and Ji-Eun had to treat them to coffee before they stopped. SHINee’s Taemin just laughed and offered to help pay for half. The girls made him pick up the tab and later that night, Ji-Eun would wonder if it was possible to like someone so quickly.
Im Seulong would admit to his band members, including Jaebum and even JoKwon’s on-screen wife, Son Ga-in, that Lee Ji-Eun was one talented little girl, that her voice was pure, bright and it made him feel comfortable listening to it. If she hadn’t been an idol, it would have been a waste. Jokwon and Ga-in would smile at each other knowingly and Nichkhun would grin when they told him, Victoria, Seohyun and Yonghwa during WGM filming.
Plotting would ensue and in the end, Seohyun would slap Yonghwa for suggesting locking them together since she wasn’t exactly legal yet. Jokwon and Ga-in would eventually just tell them to let it go. They’ll come together on their own.

And they would. She’d be walking out of school; ready to head for a schedule her manager texted her for and he’d be leaning on the hood of his car, waiting for her. She wouldn’t notice him at first until his voice calls her name and a classmate of hers squeals, “OMG! It’s 2AM!”
“Sunbae,” would be her greeting and she’d walk over, a light smile to her lips. He responds with his own grin and Ji-Eun would smile a little brighter, her schedule escaping her mind and ask, “Sunbae, what brings you here?”
Somewhere in the distance, Nichkhun would be whining as Yonghwa presses down on his head to see and Jokwon would shake his head at the two before he pulls up the binoculars at his neck and peers into them, the lens pointed in the direction of Seulong’s car. Ga-in and Victoria would high five each other and Seohyun would laugh softly.
“Want to get a drink? My treat,”
A blink.
“I’m not 20 yet,”
A light laugh.
“I meant for coffee or something,”
An embarrassed laugh and a light flush to her cheeks.
“Oh,”
He’d open the passenger door and grin.
“Well?”
And she’d smile back.
“Sure,”
