Odd that I'm up this early. I'll probably go back to sleep later. Perhaps it's a bit of the muscle soreness, but basically it means I'm doing it right. What I'm supposed to be doing is as follows:
Exercise 1: Feet astride, arms upward. Touch floor outside left foot, between feet, press once then outside right foot, circle bend backwards as far as possible, reverse direction after half the number of counts. Do not strain to keep knees straight. Keep arms about head and make full circle, bending backward pasts vertical each time.
Exercise 2: Back lying, legs straight, feet together, arms straight overhead. Sit up and touch the toes keeping the arms and legs straight. Use chair to hook feet under only if necessary. Keep arms in contact with the sides of the head throughout the movement. Allow knees to bend slightly.
Exercise 3: Front lying, hands and arms stretched sideways. Lift head, shoulders, arms, chest and both legs as high as possible. Keep legs straight, raise chest and both thighs completely off floor.
Exercise 4: Front lying, palms of hands flat on floor, approximately 1 foot from ears directly to side of head. Straighten arms to lift body. Chest must touch floor for each completed movement.
Exercise 5: Basically, run a quarter mile.
Five points to anyone who can identify names for these exercises. Excluding the run, of course. (And a bonus point if you quit lurking and comment. I know you people read this LJ, you just never have anything to say!) The only thing I'm not doing is the run, as I'd rather not end up waking up the people in the apartments adjacent. The foundation is solid, largely, but not a hundred percent so it still makes noise. Just not as much as it might have otherwise. My arms are a bit sore, and it turns out in retrospect that I've lost a LOT more upper body strength than I suspected, but at least my legs are still good. (I'd expect that anyway, having run and biked so much; it's not like I lifted weights to balance the upper part.) Of course this is Toledo, I can't just bike to work or jog around very much in this part of town. So it's time to find the key to the communal exercise room and start using that treadmill and exercise bike.
As far as anything goes otherwise... hm. Kind of odd, I suppose, that I've had a feeling that things would end up coming to a head after Christmas, and while the end result would end up good, it takes slogging through a lot of bad to get there. Don't know why I feel this way, it's just been a gut feeling I've had for a while. It seems a lot of things are reaffirming it. Quite odd, I suppose. Time will tell, as it always does, but do the ends always justify the means? Sometimes I have to wonder.
