Chapter 12
Run Jinki. Run! Jinki exclaimed to himself but abruptly stopped when someone blocked his way.
“WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS LEE JINKI?!” It was Taeyeon’s father who blocked him.
“I have to go Mr. Kim. Please move.” Jinki said respectfully before stepping aside to continue running. But Mr. Kim blocked him again.
“I WON’T ALLOW THIS CRAZINESS! GET BACK INSIDE AND PREPARE FOR THE WEDDING!”
“MR. KIM! I AM SICK AND TIRED OF LETTING OTHER PEOPLE ORDER ME AROUND! IT’S TIME FOR ME TO DO WHAT I WANT AND NEED TO DO!” Taeyeon’s father was surprised by the sudden tone on Jinki’s voice.
“It’s time for me to do something that I should have done a long time ago. I’m sorry Mr. Kim. But I love your daughter, I truly do. But I’m not the right one for her, there’s someone else out there waiting for her love. And there’s someone else out there that I need to catch or else I’ll regret this, and that person is whom I want to spend everyday of my life with. I’m sorry, but I have to go. Thank you very much for everything that your family has done for me.” Jinki sincerely said as he bowed and ran away.
He ran with his sweat dripping at every step he took. His feet felt tired but he knew he had to run faster before it’s too late.
Kibum took a last glance at the park with a big bag on one hand and a trolley bag on the other. He inhaled and exhaled, feeling the bitter taste of the air one last time. So many things happened in this park, so he couldn’t help but go there before leaving.
“I’m going to throw every piece of memory I have back to you.” Kibum said as he threw all of his’ and Jinki’s pictures in the air. He watched the sight of the pictures floating through the air. It kind of felt nice to him, because he succeeded his first step of forgetting. And that was to leave throw anything that has to do with him.
He then got something out of his bag and held it with his two hands.
“Thank you for being there with me when I’m cry alone.” Kibum sweetly said as he kissed the pink bunny stuffed toy that Jinki gave him before.
“I’m going to leave you here. I’m sorry. I hope you’ll be able to find a new owner that would only show you smiles and not frowns like what I showed you.” He continued as he placed the toy beside the tree as gently as possible. 2nd step was completed, and the last step was to turn around and walk away, leaving and forgetting everything that happened after Jinki stepped into his life.
Kibum then turned around but stopped when he saw the person panting a few feet away from him. His eyes widened and he wasn’t able to move.
“Jinki, what are you doing here? You should be at the church right now.” Kibum managed to say, stuttering a little.
“Don’t leave.” Jinki said as he still panted heavily.
“What?” Kibum asked him in confusion.
“I said, don’t leave.”
“I can’t stay. I don’t want to.” He replied as he held his head down trying his best to prevent his tears from falling.
“Then how about me?”
“You’ll live happily with Taeyeon. That’s how things are supposed to be. I-“
“NO!” Jinki yelled at him resulting Kibum not to finish his sentence.
“You’re the one whom I love. You’re the only person I want to be with for the rest of my life.” Jinki sweetly said as he walked towards Kibum and cupped his cheek.
Kibum’s tear fell as he felt the softness of Jinki’s hand on his cheek.
“There are so many people who got hurt because of what happened. I don’t want to hurt anyone anymore. I want to forget everything. I want to forget it so bad.” Kibum whispered as he closed his eyes.
“But I don’t want to. I want to be with you.”
Kibum still stayed silent. He then opened his eyes slowly and looked at Jinki with sad eyes.
“If you love me, then you won’t leave me.” Jinki whispered as he slowly leaned forward. Kibum once again closed his eyes with his tears falling one by one. He felt Jinki’s lips on his. Finally, he got the chance to feel those soft lips. The older kissed away his tears gently.
“Don’t leave me.” Jinki whispered once more before he took Kibum’s lips again.
Kibum didn’t know how it happened but he found himself sitting on Jinki’s bed facing his senior. He felt a hand trace his shirt to the top button. Kibum avoided making eye contact with Jinki as the other started unbuttoning his shirt. Jinki then slipped the shirt off Kibum’s shoulder slowly, his touch burning Kibum’s skin. The sudden exposure was making him uncomfortable.
Once his shirt was removed, Jinki cupped his face to face him. He then took Kibum’s hand and placed it on his bare chest. Kibum looked at Jinki with a weary face. He knew what this meant. Jinki placing his hand on his chest meant that Jinki was his’, that Jinki was going to be the one who’ll make him happy, and he felt happy but sad at the same time.
Jinki slowly pushed Kibum to lie on the bed, topping him. Kibum looked at Jinki’s face sadly and Jinki looked at him back with a face that says that everything will be alright, that he doesn’t have to worry about anything. He then closed his eyes as he felt Jinki kissed him once more. Their tongues were clashing with one another, fighting for dominance and Kibum felt his emotions over-flowing.
Jinki left his lips and continued kissing his neck, leaving marks here and there. Kibum liked the feeling so much, his hands roaming around the other’s bare back. He felt so much loved but still there was a part of his heart that doesn’t want this to happen. There was a big part of him that was saying that this was wrong, that this moment shouldn’t be happening. But he wanted this, and he knew how much Jinki wanted this too.
“Jinki…” Kibum moaned his name huskily. And they made love until the end of the night.
Jinki’s eyes fluttered softly as he felt the morning sun on his skin. He adjusted his eyes to the sudden brightness. His head shook from left to right. Why did he feel cold?
He tried reaching to the body that was supposed to be by his side, but he found that no one was there. Only a soft pillow could be felt.
He then seated straight, eyeing the empty space next to him. As he expected, Kibum still left him without saying goodbye. Even though they finally confessed that they love each other by making love last night, Kibum still left.
Jinki then stood up, putting his clothes on before he went out having that slight faith that Kibum was just outside the kitchen preparing breakfast. He searched for him at the kitchen, then at the living room, but still there were no sign that he stayed.
Jinki ran a hand on his hair. He still had faith, Kibum was going to return.
Because we love each other. Jinki thought as he cried alone.
Jinki tried searching for Kibum the next few days. He traveled through-out the city to find him, but still there was no sign.
“Jjong, have you found anything yet?” Jinki asked Jonghyun on the phone.
“Not yet hyung. No one still knows where Kibum is.”
Where could he be? Jinki thought hard as he drove around. They’ve been searching for him for several days. Kibum couldn’t have gotten too far.
Jinki bit his lip. He then took a right turn and shut-off his engine when he reached the place he wanted to be.
He went out of his car and kept silent.
The park didn’t look the same to him. Spending time there without Kibum felt so wrong.
Suddenly memories flooded his mind. The park was the place where they first had their session; it was where they fought; it was where he asked Kibum to come to him to celebrate, it was where he practiced confessing with him, and it was the place where he last saw the real love of his life.
“Taeyeon, we’ve been together how many years now, and I’ve always wanted to be with you everyday. I promise you that I’ll protect you always, that I’ll be your knight. I promise that I’ll make you shine bright like the sun. And I promise to make you happy. So please, let me spend the rest of my life with you…” Jinki softly said.
Unconsciously, their faces got closer. Jinki felt like there was a need to close the space between them and there was a need to say what he really feels.
“Because… Kibum, I love you.” Jinki whispered as their lips were getting closer.
Jinki ran a hand through his hair and sighed in exhaustion.
“Where are you?” Jinki whispered as he cried.
He spent a long time being alone there. He received calls from his friends and co-workers but he didn’t care. All he thought was being with Kibum and finding him immediately.
He was observing the scenery being silent when he caught sight of a paper facing down on the grass. He stood up from his seat and picked the paper. His eyes got widened when he saw what the paper contained. It was their first picture when they were at the mall.
Does he really want to forget everything? Including me? Jinki thought.
It was getting dark but he searched, he willingly looked for the pictures. His clothes where already wet from his sweat but still he didn’t want to leave. He wanted to complete the pictures, not leaving a single one behind. He caught sight of the pink bunny stuffed toy that he gave to Kibum. He approached it and held it with his two hands.
“Are you lost? Where is your owner?” He said expecting the pink fluffy object to answer him.
Jinki bit his lip. He wanted to see Kibum badly.
“Let’s go find your owner.” He said to the toy before leaving the place and drove away with his car.
Jinki looked at the bunny toy beside him as he drove, caressing it with his hand. He needed to go back to his office for a short emergency meeting. He didn’t have a choice but to attend to it and try his best not to be in deep thought.
It was no use. Jinki still thought of Kibum for the whole span of his meeting. Nothing came in his mind but Kibum’s face and his smile.
“Sir? Sir?” Jinki’s thoughts were cut and looked at his secretary dumbfound.
“Is there anything wrong?” His secretary asked him. He looked at the stares that his co-workers were giving him. They all looked worried.
“I’m sorry. Can we just postpone this?” He asked. His co-workers reassuringly smiled at him and said that it was alright. He bowed in thanks and immediately left the building.
Jinki knocked on Jonghyun’s apartment door.
“Who’s there?” Jonghyun asked from inside.
“It’s me.” Jinki felt that Jonghyun panicked when he heard his voice based from the shuffling noises coming from the inside. Jonghyun then opened the door.
“What’s up hyung?” he asked Jinki uneasily.
“Is there someone with you right now?” Jinki asked.
“No, there’s no one here.” But suddenly shuffling noises where heard again.
“Are you sure?” Jinki asked again as he tried to peek inside the house.
“No! It’s nothing really!” Jonghyun answered as he blocked Jinki’s way.
“Oh… Okay… Do you want to go out for a while?” Jinki asked him. Jonghyun agreed and got ready. He took his coat and headed for the door.
Until when are you planning to hide? Jonghyun mentally asked as he glanced at his room before going out.
