I'm not good at decorating sims' houses. Most of the time I'm perfectly happy with typical simlish looking rooms (=empty with cheap furniture). Sometimes, my favorite families are lucky and I try a little bit harder (like the Broke family).
And then there are the Goths.
Who get to keep their french names, because it's of russian origin, and I think it fits them. We really get random translated names though.
Mortimer is Vladimir, Cassandra just Sandra, I call Alexander Sacha for short and Bella is Sonia (form of Sofia)
Vladimir is the apparent head of the family, a former inventor. I don't have a lot of pictures of him, he's just ... around. Collecting bugs when I want to keep him busy, or congratulating everyone. His madness and inner flame seem to have died out when he lost Sofia.
His study, memories of his former life, when he was still passionate.
Sacha is the heir. Actually it just means inheriting the Goth manor. He is my favorite Pleasantview sim.
The first time I played adults Lilith Pleasant and Alexander as a couple,
this song was on tv. It was before Nightlife and chemistry. I don't care if they don't get along now, it's pretty much canon in my head. It will happen someday.
He is a surprisingly normal and accepting teenager. He has been abandoned by his mother while still a toddler, raised by his older sister and ageing, absent-minded father, left again when his sister married, to then have his real mother come back in his life with an unexpected sister, and through all this Sacha was just peacefully smiling.
When Sacha lost his surrogate mother, he gained a brother. These two are as thick as thieves. Don appreciates that someone admires him so much. As smart as he was, Sacha had to learn what being a man meant from somewhere.
Tip: if you dine at the Goths, pick this side of the table, it's the fun one. And just wait 'til Lou is old enough to join.
The Lotharios are really a part of the family, even though they don't live there. Sandra's inheritance was used to buy the biggest house in town. Don's bachelor pad is now his office, as he is a general practitioner now.
I figured Don proposed to Sandra because she had the money and upbringing, and Don, like Dina, wants to be someone important. And about to have a family of their own, they would stick together.
I think Sandra has already been invited twice to vacations while pregnant. It's about time I play their household, pregnancy is making her cranky.
When you meet Sofia Bachelor-Goth, you understand everything. Why Vladimir is now an empty shell, where Sandra's inferiority complex came from. Why her family adores her unconditionally. As soon as I got her out of the gypsy clothes she arrived in town with, her "lady of the manor" demeanor came back.
Everyone knows her. Everyone has their version of her. My Bella "Sofia" Goth would be Bess Sedgwick in At Bertram's Hotel. Except with magic blood ! It runs in the Bachelor family, which is why Michael was drawn to quarter alien Dina.
Weirdly, Goth blue blood seems to be thicker, only Lubov the changeling has predispositions for magic.
That's her formal dress, she's wearing it often..
Here, have some Bustin' out bio:
Descended from a long line of occultist, mystics and decadents, she has thrown convention to the wind. Her disdain for the pedestrian and normal is only matched by her sense of ennui and isolation.
My Goths are heavily influenced by
The Fate of Alchemy Being a witch made her life both easier and more interesting, She magivestiums her way to the roof, unaccessible otherwise, to look at her beloved stars. She creates food out of thin air without getting her hands dirty. Her witch attire cleans/fixes appliances/waters flowers on its own.
In every Pleasantview I've played, Sofia has always been close to Don. The very first time I got her back was thanks to Don and the matchmaker blind date with corresponding turn ons tip. He would know why she left, and where to. She also would have asked him to keep an eye on Sandra.
Like Alia once said to Jessica: "I hate you. I love you. I will never forgive you. "
It's just a facade though. Nobody ever resisted Sofia, a fortiori her own daughter.
Lubov Bachelor is the latest addition to the family. Long story short, I wanted Sofia to have another baby, but not with Mortimer, and to follow the family tradition of having the personality of your same-sex parent. So, Lou is a plantbaby. She looks nothing like her mother, which is fine by me, as she has angular features like her siblings.
What do you mean where have we been all these years *trolls* ?
If Lubov was a sim 3, she would definitely be inappropriate and daredevil. However tamed she might look now that she has a real house to sleep in every night, she will never be prim and proper. Fun fact: she is my only sim whose hand does not get mangled when playing with cats.
Speaking of cats, the Goths have two: Falkor, a former stray now Vladimir and Sacha's very affectionate cat, constantly bugging employees when her owners are busy,
With Lucy in the butlery.
And Grograman, Sofia's familiar who is also very affectionate and needy, but quite fiery.
With all the fights she initiates, the cats don't get along at all, I suspect them to be jealous of one another.
Another room to show:
Because it felt unfair to have the library on zero pics while that's where they spend their "normal, not inviting the Lotharios to dinner" days. Or in the winter garden. Yes there are no winters in Pleasantview, but perpetual spring means daily rain !
The house is hard to navigate around because there are always things getting in the camera way. I got used to it.
Bonus:
-Mother, are you a ninja ?
