Okay ladies (and possible gentlemen that I do not know about) this is a fandom update!
First up is Avatar!
For those that don't know or haven't heard, there is (finally) an Avatar art book ! You can find it
HERE at amazon.com (or
HERE at amazon.ca for my fellow Canuck f-listers) and it's ON SALE. Mine just came today, and while I haven't read everything in it, I spent an hour looking through the entire book, and I'm telling you right now, this book is not only amazing and gorgeous but it is worth every penny. Aside from breath-taking art and in-depth character designs, it gives you a real insight into the show and the animation. Even if you aren't a die-hard Avatar fan, this book is worth buying.
New
Japanese TLA trailer has new scenes not found in any of it's North America counterparts. Check it out, yo.
Also, over at jacksonrathbonesource.org, they've got some
HD shots of 'Sokka' from the film that are very nice.
Last of the TLA movie news, I just found out that the website has been revamped! New promotional posters/desktop backgrounds are available, and they look really, really good. Also, there's a gallery with one or two images I haven't seen before and you can "explore" the Watertribe, which is mostly just for people who know nothing about the series, but it has some clips in there, including one of Aang waterbending with Paku from the Northern Watertribe. Also, you get a very great view of what the Northern Watertribe set looks like, also very amazing. AND THE MUSIC! I've never mentioned this before, but James Newton Howard is doing the score, and while I love and wish the Track Team could have worked on it, I am a HUGE JNH fan, and the song that plays while you "explore" is just so beautiful. (Not to mention the songs being played while checking out the rest of the site just send me into bliss) I can NOT WAIT for the soundtrack. (I'm going to be doing hard-core writing to this thing, I can already tell.)
Next is a quick little blip about one of my fav. British television series.
TORCHWOOD IS STARTING BACK UP AGAIN! This series, a spin off of Doctor Who, is truly amazing. I'll admit, the season finales are nothing like DW or most t.v. shows in general (in the sense that they usually aren't all that exciting lol) but the episodes themselves make it worth the watch. And also, the special Torchwood did, The Children of Earth, has to be one of the most heart-renching, painfully beautiful moments of entertainment that I have ever watched. It made you hatehatehate the show and the government and humans in general, while still loveloveloving it and the power humanity has to show kindness and compassion. But after 'The Children of Earth' special, Torchwood was thought to be finished. Well, that was a lie! It's being produced in part by a British television network, and in part with an American television network. Torchwood will be reuniting Cptn. Jack Harckness with Gween Cooper and will take place in parts of England, the U.S. and other parts of the world. This is being said to be the most daring, adventurous Torchwood to date, and with veteran writer Russell T. Davies back at the helm, I have no doubt it will be.
Now the only thing I want to know is when is the casting for the US episodes and how can I audition?!
And the most surprising fandom update I have has to do with Supernatural!
Apparently the series is a major hit in Japan, or so I'm assuming, because it's
being made into an anime!
There's pretty much nothing on the website yet, but I know I'll be checking back on a regular bases in hopes of finding out more. For now though, I'm in a sort of.. state of shock. I'm not sure if my reaction should be HELL YEAH! or OMGWTFNO. Mostly I'm just excited because hey, more SPN for me to obsess about, and THINK OF THE PORN 8DDDDD *is shot* (but you know it's true)
That's it for now, f-list. I had an actual update stored away some where about the amazing fun-times that was Pitt Meadows day/Courtney's birthday, but obviously all this was more important. ;P
Dance recital this weekend! Dress rehearsal tomorrow, actual recital Friday and Saturday night. Everything is okay except for Ballet, at which I'm struggling with the beginning, but oh well. Tomorrow shall be spent practicing like a MOFO (even though I already know I'm going to be hurting crazy much from dance today) and going over the Gr.6 Modern Bollywood dance. And you know what, just to be safe I'll do a little hip-hop, too. OTL The only dance I know 100% for sure is going to go great is tap. How did that even happen? idk
Wish me luck everyone, because not only do I need it for the dances, I'm almost finished developing a nasty cold. D
