CSU boss, 12-year Bavarian governor, and Chancellor Schröder's penultimate challenger Edmund Stoiber has announced his departure from the Federal Government, thereby ending an agonizing back-and-forth about whether he would accept the nomination to the Economy Minister's seat in the Merkel government. He just loves Bavaria too dang much... or maybe realizes that his hold over the CSU-haven Free State is finally slipping, after he polled below 50% in the last election...
I bet Bush will still invite him to lunch over (ex-)Chancellor Schröder, though, but whatever.
