Amidst my quite unsuccessful job search, I had a bit of an epiphany. The one thing I am really qualified to do, the one thing that I love to do, and the one thing that I've wanted to do since I was about 15... is MUSIC.
I read job descriptions and they all sound horribly boring to me. But I can (and have) spent hours and hours a day doing music, and I am completely engaged from beginning to end. Ok, sometimes when I'm gigging outside I people watch a bit more than I should.
I am redoubling my efforts at getting a teaching studio up and running. My goal is to eventually be able to quit the day job all together, and teach full time. Teaching private lessons full time will also make my schedule more flexible for more gigs and such. (Bonus, more gigs=more extra cash)
It all sounds so simple. But it's a pretty long term goal. I'm sure there will be a point where I'm teaching not quite enough to quit my day job, but enough that I will really NEED to quit the day job. I have to wrangle up enough students to make it happen. And Carlos and I will have to figure out health insurance. But that's a long ways off.
So. Music career - here I come.
