I had just learned that the TSD student who would have tested with me in May has suffered spinal injuries, and is forced to withdraw. I hear that he's feeling numbness along one side of his body, and it's creeping further along. His doctor says that his martial arts career is basically over.
This is a serious loss for our community. He was so close to getting his black belt, he was doing well in the KF discipline, and he was fun to spar with. I was looking forward to testing with him, but he swears that he'll be present for the test if only to watch.
Now I have someone to test for. Time to get serious.
