Day 8 in Cuba was March 18.
Today we headed to Guantanamo. The city, not the military base - which Cubans and others consider territory illegally occupied by the USA btw.
We stopped at the Casa del Changui for the first performance of the day - another Tumba Francesa group! (This was to be 3 of the 3 that exist in the country however I wouldn't be seeing the Santiago presentation because I needed alone time).
Before the Tumba performance there was another as well and it was just as fun:
And we also got to watch how things are kept alive by passing along traditions to the children and younger generations:
After the performance we walked over to a hotel for our lunch. We were joined by cultural leaders and teachers of the community.

love the tile and the balconies here.
After this performance we headed across the street to La Trova for another performance. We met an overly friendly man that wouldn't leave us alone when the music started playing. I was definitely ready to head back to the hotel at this point! He kept trying to dance with me. I didn't want to. So I didn't.
Dinner was at the Restaurant Matamoros, just a short walk away from the hotel down the promenade. There we were once again entertained by music - really good too. And we ate well. Flan. Yum.
