cambler pointed me over here to help clear this up. The editing was not sucky and in no way is she a cylon. (she gave birth to a kid so wouldn't that make her kid a hybrid too and then Hera wouldn't be so important) Pl
End of episode 1: Cally is running away, we hear gun fire, she goes down, fade to black. This was done as a creative edit to create tension in the audience to wonder what happened to Cally. Was she actually shot? Did the cylons kill her and the other people? TUNE IN NEXT WEEK! SAME GALACTICA TIME, SAME GALACTICA CHANNEL!!!! ;)
We later find out that Cally was knocked down by Galen, the gun fire was from the rebels shooting the tincans (not the other way around) and everything came out fine.
Was it a sucky edit/bad continiutiy? One could think that but I personally see it as dramatic tension and nothing else. Occams Razor.

Just watched both sections.
There are random trees in the second episode where we see what actually happend but not as many as in the first episode with Cally running.
Explination: The first section when Cally "fell" and we heard gun shots are two different sections. There is plenty of space between the trees we saw her in in the first section and the open clearing where Galen knocked her down. Her "fall" was not the same one as when Galen tackled her. Merely the dramatic tension moment.
I completely blew her off as a very minor character under the radar and only thought that Baltar was the next Cylon to come out of the chrome closet now i need to check on this one too.
